Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician Job Description The Mechanical Assembly Technician performs precision mechanical assembly of complex machinery that requires exact dimensional specifications, tight tolerances, and accurate operating relationships. This role involves fitting and aligning components, calibrating operating units, and balancing completed assemblies using skilled mechanical principles and a broad knowledge of assembly techniques. The technician also assists with final inspection and testing to ensure each machine meets all performance standards and requirements. Responsibilities • Position, erect, align, and level machinery and sub-assemblies, integrating separate components and ensuring their operations function together as designed., • Perform fitting, aligning, timing, and calibrating operations that are incidental to the mechanical assembly of the machine., • Read and follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and build schedules to complete assemblies correctly and on time., • Read and interpret engineering prints, mechanical specifications, electrical schematics, manufacturing manuals, and verbal or written instructions to determine assembly steps and requirements., • Use handheld tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drill guns, crimpers, and similar equipment to assemble, fasten, and adjust components., • Use precision measuring and gauging instruments, including scales and calipers, to inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications and tolerances., • Perform quality checks during and after assembly to ensure the product meets established quality standards., • Discern the quality of parts and materials used in production and identify any issues that could affect performance or reliability., • Identify product defects, document nonconformances accurately, and follow established procedures for reporting and resolving defects., • Rework and repair assembled equipment and products in accordance with engineering specification changes and quality requirements., • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards, safety procedures, and applicable work instructions., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area that supports efficient and high-quality assembly., • Use critical thinking and reasoning to solve assembly and fit-up problems and contribute to process improvements., • Maintain high attention to detail and self-motivation to produce consistent, accurate work with minimal oversight., • Maintain process cycle times and productivity levels to keep pace with established production standards., • Perform basic data entry to update the status of job orders and work progress in the production system., • Complete all required documentation and accurately report labor and time worked on a timely basis., • Understand and comply with safety guidelines, quality system procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times., • Analyze assembly and equipment problems, identify root causes, and offer practical solutions., • Collaborate effectively in a team environment while also being able to work independently when required., • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical machine assembly, including building and assembling complex machinery., • Proficiency in precision mechanical assembly, including fitting, aligning, timing, and calibrating mechanical components and assemblies., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and mechanical specifications., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and manufacturing manuals as they relate to mechanical and electrical assembly., • Hands-on experience with machine assembly, machine building, and machine testing., • Skill in using handheld tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drill guns, and crimpers for assembly tasks., • Experience with drilling and tapping operations as part of mechanical assembly., • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as scales and calipers to verify part dimensions and tolerances., • Basic computer skills for data entry and updating job order status., • Ability to perform basic data entry accurately and in a timely manner., • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to mechanical and basic electrical issues in machinery., • High attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality standards consistently., • Ability to discern the quality of parts and materials used in production and identify defects., • Ability to follow work instructions, procedures, and directions accurately., • Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently. full health benefits 401k health dental vision accrued sick pto/vacation Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Ramsey,NJ.
