Job Description The Powder Coating Department Group Lead oversees daily operations of the powder coating department in cabinet and containment manufacturing environment. This role ensures high-quality finishes on enclosures and containment products by managing workflow through SAP/MRP systems, coordinating personnel, enforcing safety and quality standards, and driving Lean/5S+1 initiatives. The schedule is M-F 3:30pm-12am, plus OT. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Production • Lead, train, and coach a team of powder coaters, line operators, and support staff., • Assign daily work based on SAP picklists, Lot-by-Lot sheets, and production schedules., • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, safety reminders, and quality expectations., • Monitor surface preparation, coating thickness, adhesion, and curing to meet cabinet and containment quality standards., • Perform in-process inspections and collaborate with Quality to resolve coating defects (e.g., fisheyes, orange peel, poor adhesion)., • Implement corrective actions and maintain Lot-by-Lot documentation., • Utilize SAP/MRP systems for production tracking, work order closures, and powder inventory management., • Record daily output, downtime, and scrap data in SAP and on production tracking boards., • Oversee the set-up, operation, and care of powder spray guns, booths, ovens, and pre-treatment systems., • Enforce OSHA and EHS safety policies, including PPE, lock-out/tag-out, and safe material handling., • Champion 5S+1 and Lean Manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste., • Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for recurring defects or equipment issues., • 5+ years in a manufacturing or finishing environment, including 3+ years in powder coating or industrial painting., • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role, preferably within a cabinet, enclosure, or containment manufacturing setting., • Proficiency in SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems for scheduling, work orders, and inventory tracking., • Strong knowledge of electrostatic powder coating applications and pre-treatment methods., • High School Diploma or GED required., • Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Management, or related field preferred., • Powder Coating Institute (PCI) certification or OSHA training a plus., • Excellent leadership and communication abilities., • Skilled at troubleshooting powder coating defects and maintaining process consistency., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature manufacturing environment., • Cabinet and containment finishing area with exposure to powders, chemicals, and oven heat., • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs., • Required PPE includes respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection., • Must be flexible for overtime or weekend work to meet production schedules. #2127LI
