Job Description We are a small, mission-driven company located in Tappan, NY, operating The Education & Outreach Company (educationandoutreach.com) and Health Edco (healthedco.com). We are biased, but we’re pretty sure this is a wonderful place to work. We create educational tools, from 3D anatomical models and health awareness displays to interactive props, coloring books, and community outreach materials. We have a unique opening for a 3D Model / Prop Designer who loves turning complex health and medical concepts into physical, touchable, and memorable educational tools. In this role, you’ll take concepts from sketch or scan to digital 3D sculpt, optimize them for additive manufacturing and physical production, and prototype real-world models right here in our workshop. Why this job is unique and great: • Meaningful, tactile impact: Your work won’t just live on a screen or inside a video game. You’ll be designing physical models and interactive props used by schools, hospitals, public health departments, and educators worldwide to teach vital health and safety topics., • True creative ownership: We aren’t a big, stuffy corporation with layers of red tape. You will have direct input into product development, testing ideas, finding creative manufacturing solutions, and helping us envision entirely new product lines., • Room to learn and grow: We love cross-functional thinkers and makers. We want someone who is eager to master new tools, explore new materials and scanning techniques, and grow alongside our product catalog., • Real work-life balance: We understand that people have lives outside the office. We work hard to maintain processes that let us get our work done without it consuming our personal lives. No one who works here misses a graduation, school concert, or major life event because of their job., • Low stress, high pride: We don’t run on panic or artificial urgency. We value clear communication, taking the time to get details right the first time, and taking pride in craftsmanship. What we’re looking for in a teammate: • Makers at heart: You get genuine satisfaction from seeing a digital model come off a 3D printer, getting assembled, painted/finished, and put into the hands of an educator., • Meticulous attention to detail: Whether it’s anatomical accuracy, wall thickness, tolerance fits, or texture, you care about getting the little things right., • A practical, problem-solving mindset: You understand that designing for real-world production means balancing visual realism, durability, printability, and ease of assembly., • Professionalism and dependability: We keep things casual and friendly, but we count on each other to be reliable, communicative, and self-directed. Exactly what you will be doing: • 3D Sculpting & Modeling: Create clean, highly detailed, and accurate 3D digital models, props, and cross-section displays using digital sculpting and CAD software., • 3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering: Digitize physical anatomical specimens, vintage health props, or clay maquettes using 3D scanners, cleaning up meshes for prototyping and reproduction., • Prototyping & Print Preparation: Slice, orient, and prepare files for multi-material desktop 3D printing (FDM/resin); manage print jobs, tune print settings, and post-process parts (cleaning, support removal, assembly, and test fitting)., • Prop Finishing & Material Exploration: Collaborate on paint schemes, casting methods, textures, and durable finishes to make models both educational and visually striking., • Quality & Iteration: Test product durability and fit, adjusting based on physical feedback., • Team Player: Occasionally lend a hand on other workshop, prototyping, or warehouse projects, we are a tight-knit team where everyone pitches in. A Friendly Note on Applying: Please apply through the platform only and include a link to your portfolio. Please don’t call, text, message on LinkedIn/Instagram, or show up unannounced (yes, someone once showed up in a tuxedo... please don’t do that). We are a small team and review every application directly through the hiring portal.
