Responsibilities Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients to support chefs and dietary staff Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing utensils and equipment Support meal assembly and plating according to established standards and menus Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and hygiene practices Help with inventory management by stocking supplies and notifying supervisors of low stock items Support catering events or special meal services by setting up serving stations and assisting staff as needed Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, knife skills, and kitchen operations to ensure a safe working environment Qualifications Previous experience in a dietary department, dietary aide role, or food service environment is preferred but not required Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques Basic culinary skills including knife skills, meal preparation, and cooking techniques Experience with menu planning or food industry operations is a plus Strong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen setting Excellent teamwork and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and servers Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting supplies or moving equipment This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the culinary arts who want to develop their skills in a supportive environment.
