Summary Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Coordinator, the Patient Care Technician I (PCT-I) is responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients receiving hemodialysis treatment. The PCT-I assists in the preparation, initiation, monitoring, and completion of dialysis treatments while maintaining strict adherence to KidneySPA’s standards for quality, infection control, and patient experience. This position plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining equipment and treatment areas, and promoting KidneySPA’s values of healing with hospitality, excellence, and compassion. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dialysis Patient Care Technician to join our healthcare team. Key Responsibilities: • Assist registered nurses and physicians in providing dialysis treatments to patients, • Monitor patients during dialysis sessions, observing vital signs and overall condition, • Prepare and operate dialysis equipment according to established protocols, • Educate patients on treatment procedures and post-treatment care, • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation, • Ensure a clean and safe environment in the dialysis unit, • Respond promptly to patient needs and report any concerns to the healthcare team, • Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times Join our team and contribute to improving patients' quality of life through compassionate care and technical expertise. Requirements: Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors · Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise clinical protocols. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team under RN supervision. · Knowledge of infection control, safety, and patient care practices. · Manual dexterity to handle dialysis equipment and instruments. · Proficiency in basic computer systems and documentation software (e.g., EHR). · Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations. · Dependable, compassionate, and professional demeanor consistent with KidneySPA standards. · Ability to travel locally, as necessary. Education & Experience · High school diploma or GED required. · Completion of a formal dialysis training program preferred. · CMS-recognized Dialysis Technician certification required within 18 months of hire. · Current CPR certification required. · Minimum six (6) months of experience in a healthcare environment; dialysis experience preferred. · Must meet all state and federal requirements for dialysis technician certification. · Knowledge of healthcare operations, infection control, and dialysis terminology preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · The position provides direct patient care that may involve repositioning patients and assisting with ambulation. · The employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines, and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift boxes, chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. up as high as 5 feet. · The work environment is at the hemodialysis clinic. · May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. · Consistent use of PPE is provided and required for safe treatment of patients and employee safety. · There will also be frequent use of computer and keyboard and occasional phone usage. · Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. · Prolonged periods of standing, walking and bending.
