Job Description Position Summary The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all revenue cycle operations for a busy orthopedic practice and/or musculoskeletal service line. This leadership role ensures efficient management of billing, coding, collections, payer relations, denials management, and compliance while maximizing reimbursement and improving financial performance. The Director will collaborate closely with executive leadership, physicians, clinical teams, and external payers to streamline processes and maintain operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Direct and oversee all aspects of the revenue cycle including patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture, coding, claims submission, payment posting, accounts receivable, collections, and denial management, • Develop and implement revenue cycle strategies to improve cash flow, reduce denials, and increase reimbursement accuracy, • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including AR days, clean claim rate, denial trends, collection percentages, and reimbursement turnaround times, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements, • Supervise and mentor billing, coding, collections, and revenue cycle staff while fostering a high-performance culture, • Collaborate with orthopedic physicians and clinical staff to improve documentation accuracy and charge capture processes, • Oversee coding compliance specific to orthopedic procedures, surgeries, imaging, durable medical equipment (DME), injections, and ancillary services, • Analyze payer contracts and reimbursement trends to identify opportunities for negotiation and revenue improvement, • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and patient financial experience, • Work closely with finance and executive leadership to develop budgets, revenue forecasts, and operational reports, • Manage vendor relationships, clearinghouses, and third-party billing partners when applicable, • Resolve complex billing issues, escalated patient concerns, and payer disputes, • Stay current on orthopedic billing regulations, CPT/ICD coding updates, and industry best practices Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred, • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive revenue cycle management experience within healthcare, • Prior experience in orthopedic, musculoskeletal, surgical, or multi-specialty medical practice strongly preferred, • Strong knowledge of orthopedic coding, surgical billing, managed care contracts, and payer guidelines, • Experience with EHR/PM systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, NextGen, or similar platforms, • Proven leadership experience managing large teams and multiple operational functions, • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments Preferred Skills • CPC, CPB, CRCR, or related certification preferred, • Experience managing physician practice revenue cycle operations across multiple locations, • Knowledge of value-based care models and healthcare reimbursement methodologies, • Ability to drive operational improvements through data analysis and performance metricsCompany DescriptionThe Bachrach Group (TBG) is a New York-based staffing and recruiting agency founded in 1974 by Richard Bachrach.
