Job Description Job Summary: The HVAC Service Account Manager is responsible for managing a customer base including attaining and maintaining customers through actions, attitudes, and services to the extent that we are recognized as exceptional. The Service Account Manager is primarily responsible for all activities relating to customer prospecting, qualifying, proposing, selling, and managing mechanical services and projects. Reports to: Director of Service Location/Department: Sterling Heights, MI Status: Exempt – Salaried with Bonus Potential Essential Job Functions: • Maintain and expand existing customer accounts., • Increase the customer business and maintain accounts as required to retain long-term customers., • Develop all prospects within the assigned market/territory., • Promptly follow up on all leads and opportunities., • Understand and apply Service agreements and project pricing systems., • Appraise and survey mechanical systems to determine condition, age, application, and proper quantity for maintenance requirements., • Appraise and survey mechanical systems. Understand prospect's needs and problems. Determine repair, modifications, and/or replacement requirements to provide prospects with solutions to problems. Interpret drawings, equipment, and job conditions., • Able to provide modification/repair/replacement recommendations and to document these so the customer and operations understand what is required., • Identify sales opportunities, qualify, develop solutions, and drive decisions to close sales., • Prepare complete, concise, and accurate reports, proposals, booking packages, and other documentation as required., • Build and maintain harmonious working relationships with company personnel, customers, suppliers, and vendors., • Order appropriate equipment/parts and schedule manpower needed to complete a project, based on the agreed-upon schedule., • Monitor all costs to manage gross profit performance., • Participate in project status meetings; review past and projected gross profit performance on all assigned projects., • Prepare timely customer quotations (within 24 hours of request) based on the size and complexity of the project. Maintain a file of all paperwork., • Manage pre-start-up activities and checklists, including confirming equipment is ready for start-up, providing deficiency reports and other communications directly with the construction project team, and providing engineering assistance., • Assist with other service and pre-construction activities, including field engineering, pipe design layout, and submittal review., • Assist with other post-construction activities, including commissioning assistance, collaboration of start-up reports, and project closeouts, among other activities., • Participate in project site meetings including site trade coordination and customer update meetings., • Order appropriate equipment/parts and schedule manpower as needed., • Safe work practices should be used in the office and promoted in the field., • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures., • Notify the supervisor of any unsafe conditions. Qualifications & Skills: • Experience: 3-5 years of HVAC industry experience, preferably in service sales or account management., • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered., • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with commercial and industrial HVAC systems, service agreements, and industry best practices., • Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills., • Technology: Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business tools., • Other: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for client meetings as needed. Essential Physical Abilities: • Willing to travel to local project sites as required., • Willing to work remotely and telecommute as required., • Ability to meet the highest attendance requirements., • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally., • Ability to handle multiple assignments on time with a high degree of accuracy., • Ability to use personal computers, calculators, etc., • Could involve some lifting. Their understanding of costs is at the foundation of every design and that understanding is utilized to bring customers practical designs that meet their budgets for the first cost while maintaining energy efficiencies to ensure long-term cost objectives are met.
