Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Safety Security Officer FLSA: Non-Exempt DIVISION: Operations REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor LOCATION: Bronx, NY SALARY: $19.65 hourly SUMMARY: The Safety Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all clients, staff, and the property around the facility in a homeless shelter. Operations within our facility are 24 hours. This is a relief position that requires face-to-face relief with mandatory overtime. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager of the Facility. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms, • Escort clients to appointments as needed, • Interact with and monitor clients' behavior, maintaining good rapport by providing excellent customer service. Encourage clients to comply with the facility's policies and procedures., • Control access at the main entrance by screening all clients and visitors, utilizing magnetometer/x-ray machine to detect and prevent weapons from entering the site., • Perform Crisis Intervention to de-escalate potential crises and document all such situations and interventions., • Make hourly rounds throughout the entire facility, including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen, and office spaces., • Respond to incidents, • Assist with client intakes, • Perform daily pack-ups and logging of client property belonging to AWOL clients, • Store and remove client property once the mandated storage time has expired, • Maintain a clean and organized storage area, • Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation., • Make calls to police, fire department, and other first responders as directed., • Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk; monitor video surveillance cameras, and the fire prevention/detection alarm notification system., • Provide duties related to fire incidents, evacuation of the building when necessary, utilizing Fire procedures., • Ensure the safety and security of all assigned equipment., • Mandatory overtime Required • Perform other tasks as assigned. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED and prior security experience required. Must have NYS Security Guard License, and current 8-Hour Annual Certificate. Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred F02. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred. Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime if necessary. Job Description JOB TITLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR FLSA: NON-EXEMPT DIVISION: SERVICES – SECURITY REPORTS TO: SECURITY MANAGER LOCATION: QUEENS, NY SALARY: $24 PER HOUR SUMMARY: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for performing work involving a variety of specialized assignments, and security systems in a homeless shelter setting. The populations served are single men and single women. Shift Supervisor reports to the Security Manager. The Security Shift Supervisor position pays $20/hr. Proof of COVID-19 vaccine is required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Train new security employees in all aspects of the facility., • Supervise and delegate tasks assigned to SSO’s, drivers and kitchen staff working on assigned shifts, • Monitor access control, and ensure effective use of the magnetometer and x-ray machine, • Respond to incidents and utilize crisis management to protect the safety of the staff and clients, • Make rounds throughout the facility, and external premises to prevent, detect, deter, and report of hazardous situations, trespassers, and illegal activities., • Respond to emergencies in person throughout the building, and provide guidance and support to line staff and subordinates., • Complete monthly security reports, • Create incident reports and disseminate as appropriate, • Document in CARES and other Westhab protocols, • Facilitate process when EMS and NYPD are on site, • Conduct daily security and fire safety system inspections, • Fulfill all job responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor in their absence., • Adjust staff schedules due to sick calls, and unexpected staff shortages, • Maintain safety and security of clients and staff., • Provide crisis intervention when needed., • Assist Security Manager in preparing and executing fire drills., • Review log book entries, incident reports, and critical administrative responsibilities on assigned shift, checking for errors and ensuring accuracy, • Attend and conduct various meetings and training’s as needed., • Check inventory of all assigned equipment daily, and investigate any discrepancies. Associates Degree in social services, criminology or related field; or equivalent experience required. A valid N.Y.S Security Guard License, Fire Guard License (FB0, or F89), and certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI). Must possess a general knowledge of security systems. Ability to solve problems; ability to make decisions based on factual information a must. Knowledge of video surveillance and fire detection / alarm notification system a must. Shift Supervisor must own their own vehicle and have knowledge of public transportation system. A home phone number is mandatory. Must be flexible on days and hours of availability.
