Job Description The Safety & Security Officer Opportunity: The Safety & Security Officer (SSO) is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property across North Central Health Care facilities. This role provides frontline safety support through proactive monitoring, customer service, conflict prevention, and timely response to safety and security events. The SSO must demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or emergent situations, including interactions with individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. What You’ll Get: • The starting pay range for this role is $19.40 - $21.13 based on education and experience., • This job is an in person position. Required • High school diploma or equivalent., • Minimum of 1 year of experience in security, behavioral health, human services, or a related field., • Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques (or ability to obtain through training)., • Physical ability to participate in patient restraints, • Ability to run a minimum of 300 yards in response to urgent Security calls. Preferred • Three or more years of relevant experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or security. What a Safety & Security Officer does at NCHC: • Conduct routine and random interior and exterior patrols of facilities and grounds., • Monitor visible and audible alarms and onsite/remote camera systems., • Perform door checks and locking/unlocking procedures to maintain controlled access., • Ensure individuals entering and exiting facilities follow sign-in, badge, and visitation procedures., • Respond promptly and appropriately to safety, security, and emergency situations., • Assist with code responses, fire alarms, drills, and emergency preparedness activities., • Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when responding to escalated or disruptive individuals., • Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and internal leadership as needed., • Provide standby support on units as requested., • Assist with new admissions, with particular attention to behavioral or safety concerns., • Escort visitors and individuals to and from units when required., • Support continuity of operations during high-risk or emergent situations., • Complete daily activity and incident reports, documenting critical events, safety concerns, and operational needs., • Communicate relevant safety or security information to leadership and team members., • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and security-related education sessions., • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements., • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, staff, and organizational information., • Maintain the overall condition and organization of the security office., • Attend and maintain required training, including CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)., • Perform other work-related tasks assigned to support safety and security operations.
