Responsibilities • Safely perform work in communication spaces, • Qualify to work safely in energized spaces, • Participate in work requiring pole climbing, • Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab, • Record and report the sequential footmarks by the operator or groundman, • Responsible for framing poles, • Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of time, • Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / crawl/kneel, • Climb poles; carry, set up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spaces, • Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions, • Able to walk long distances, • Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance Qualifications • 2-4 years of relevant Fiber Optics experience preferred, • Mastery of Aerial Construction Technician I Job Duties, • Safely perform work in communication spaces, • Qualify to work safely in energized spaces, • Participate in training for pole climbing, • Operate basic hand tools (Cordless Drill, Hammer, Wrench, Socket Set), • Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab, • Record and report the sequential footmarks by the operator or groundman, • Responsible for framing poles, • Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of time, • Provide framing and attachment hardware for the operator, jack-down guys, pull lasher, • Assist with worksite housekeeping duties and equipment inspections, • Provide roadway flagging support for the operation to include obtaining Flagger Certification, • Monitor basic gauges to determine tension and pressure on the cable lines, • Attend the reel to ensure uniform deployment of strand and fiber optic cable, • Assist with performing minor field repairs on equipment, • Assist in the completion of documentation to include record-keeping, billing, inventory, etc., • Learn to recognize general safety hazards and electrical-specific hazards such as missing and or degraded parts and hardware, • Proficient in the use of the following equipment: ladders, bucket trucks, man lifts, cable pullers and reel stands preferred, • Experience operating small equipment experience (i.e., forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.), • Flagger Certification, • Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and confined spaces
