The Scratch team is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer who will identify and deliver software improvements using their expertise in software development, complexity analysis, and scalable system design. Strong collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant, meeting the expectations of our wide range of users and stakeholders. ● Lead and participate in the design and deployment of major shared infrastructure components to improve the availability and scalability of our services. ● Partner with app engineering teams to develop and ensure adherence to our product SLOs by responding and resolving production issues. ● Lead and scale our incident management, post-mortem processes, and on-call rotations. ● Build tooling and automation to support and increase accessibility of our platform with the goal of increasing the velocity of our product engineering teams. ● Support services from inception to delivery by bringing an eye towards: System Design, Scaling, Automation, Capacity Planning, Observability, and Reliability. ● Educate and train engineers on developer tooling and standards around reliability. ● Ideal Technology experience in or around: ○ Cloud: Amazon Web Services, Fastly, Cloudflare ○ Orchestration: Kubernetes ○ Metrics: Prometheus, Elasticsearch.

The ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 7-10 years' experience in electrical and fire alarm system design in vertical buildings with a strong focus in the educational sector. This person would work collaboratively with our existing closely knit team of dedicated/hard working engineers and architects out of our Manhattan office. ** Roles & Responsibilities:** This individual will be responsible for some or all of the following on a typical project; assessing the existing condition, preparing a scope report to record their findings and technical recommendations, preparing detailed calculations to validate their recommendations, develop detailed construction documents, and the preparation of project specific specifications for various types of projects. The candidate will need to be a team player and able to work with/mentor our junior engineers. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 7-10 years' experience working in a consulting engineering firm for various projects, with a strong background in the educational sector Experience designing NYC SCA projects (preferred) Strong knowledge of the various New York City codes and SCA design guidelines and procedures Able to think critically and assess each project independently with only high-level guidance from management Able to mentor and provide on the job training to young up and coming engineers Strong written and verbal communication skills ** Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York (Required)** LEED accreditation (preferred) Latest AutoCAD experience required, with REVIT experience a plus Project management experience (preferred) Capable of using standard Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program Salary: $115,000-$150,000

About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer and Embedded Systems Designer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for an individual with a deep understanding of Electrical Engineering principles Circuit Design, and PCB design, as well as hands-on experience with Arduino, ESP32. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in EE and Embedded design. They should be proficient in C++ programming, specifically for Arduino platforms, and will contribute to the development and testing of electronic products and systems for a wide range of projects, from small-scale IoT devices to large-scale applications like Interactive Displays, Smart Kiosks and Vending Machines, Loss Prevention, and Unattended Shopping Technology. Qualifications Proven experience in electronics design, and firmware development with specific expertise in microcontrollers, ie. ESP32/Arduino, as well as NVIDIA Jetson framework. Strong understanding of electronic circuit design and development processes. Understanding of low-level hardware interactions and device drivers. Strong understanding of embedded systems, I2C and SPI communication, and GPIO input/output handling. Experience in designing, developing, and testing firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems. Proven experience with C/C++ programming languages and their application in embedded systems. Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English Responsibilities Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code as well as provide actionable, clear advice and documentation. Research and Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in embedded systems and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product capabilities. Testing and Validation: Develop test procedures and perform rigorous testing to validate firmware functionality and identify and resolve bugs or issues. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware components, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Licensure: Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE). Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in C++ programming for Arduino, along with hands-on experience with ESP32, and PCB design. Software Proficiency: Experience in using or a strong desire to learn required software related to electrical engineering design and calculation. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to electronic engineering. Skills: Proficient in the use of design software, CAD and PCB, with a strong aptitude for electrical system troubleshooting and innovation.
