Job Summary At Smart Start Academy Teachers are responsible for managing the classroom from top down. From setting curriculum to delegating to assistants, your role will be to ensure that lesson plans, activities, and child care progress smoothly and effectively. Job timings: Around 7:30 AM-6:30 PM, contingent on schools requirements. Responsibilities: Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. Should be able to meet physical requirements of the position, which include lifting children, and sitting on the floor. Meeting the individual needs of the children including feeding and diapering. Observe and track children’s development and prepare progress reports. Communicate effectively with parents, providing daily updates and fostering positive relationships. Responsible to train new staff within classroom. Stimulates emotional, intellectual, and social growth of students by developing lesson plan and directing educational programs and activities tailored to assigned class; supervising the class. Must be able to attend the staff meetings and professional development sessions. About the Company: Education Through Music is a non-profit organization that partners with New York City Public Schools to place music teachers and programs back into school’s curricula. We are unique from other arts nonprofits in that we provide a bridge for teachers who are not certified to teach in public schools, build their program, and eventually be hired by a public school for the DOE. ETM has great reach in that we serve all five boroughs, we have partnerships with 50 public schools and provide music education to over 18,000 children. Music is a part of a well rounded education; it is essential for students' social and emotional well being and a critical tool for establishing equity and success. We are looking for teachers who are passionate about music and making a difference in their communities. Responsibilities: - Serving as school music faculty - Coordinating and developing the in-school music program with program staff - Producing two school-wide concerts each year - Attending and assisting in school wide functions such as assemblies, graduation, after school activities - Comprehensive scope and sequencing of lesson planning - Reflect, implement, and improve upon existing processes Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in a Music/Arts or Related Field - 1-3 years of teaching groups of up to 30 children - Ability to model quality singing in front of children - Sound musical knowledge - Knowledge of musical pedagogy practices Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s in Music Education or Related Field - Certified to teach in the state of New York or in any other state - 3-5 years of experience teaching in New York City Public Schools - Singing, conducting, keyboard, guitar and presentation skills are all pluses - Prior experience in teaching Band, Orchestra, Modern Band and Choir - Comfortability with Music Technology Software such as Soundtrap

Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, located in Red Hook, is a Hebrew dual-language camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade. No previous Hebrew experience is necessary to be part of the Sprout Brooklyn community. Sprout Brooklyn is a place where children from a wide spectrum of backgrounds join together to create a joyful, diverse community built on Jewish values, a connection to Israel and the Hebrew language. All of our Activity Specialists build their own informal Jewish education curricula based on Jewish values and creating a connection to Israel. They teach daily 30 minute lessons to campers entering Pre-K through entering 5th grade. Sprout Brooklyn values staff that are positive and flexible team players who are excited to spend the summer with young campers and staff. The ideal candidate is excited about camp life and feels comfortable wearing multiple hats and will never say that a task “isn’t their job”. Responsibilities Work with the Program Director to create weekly lesson plans Create and execute fun, age-appropriate activities Engage campers and help them develop new skills Run 30 minute lessons daily with groups of 12-14 campers Incorporate Jewish values, Hebrew and/or Israel education into activities whenever possible (assistance is provided if you do not have experience in this area) We are currently seeking specialists in the following areas: Music, Sports, Robotics, Yoga, Art, Dance, Hebrew, Martial Arts, Nature, Swim/Lifeguarding Requirements At least 18 years old Experience working with children ages 3-10 At least 2 years’ experience teaching specialty activity to children Experience attending or working at a summer camp (preferred, not required) Enthusiasm and the willingness to be silly Hebrew fluency is a plus (preferred, not required) Camp runs Monday - Friday from June 24 – August 16 with a week of staff training from June 17, 18, 20 & 23. The camp day is 8:30am – 4:00pm. Approximately 30 hours of pre-camp curriculum development.
