Position Summary The Senior Analyst, Energy Storage Engineer supports MN8’s technical work for Energy Storage Systems across the asset lifecycle, including acquisition due diligence, project development, engineering execution, commissioning, and fleet operations. The role provides technical analysis, documentation, coordination, and engineering support on BESS matters under the direction of the ESS Engineering Manager. As the Senior Analyst, ESS Engineer, you will: • Report to the ESS Engineering Lead., • Support MN8’s subject matter expertise in utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems., • Assist with maintaining and improving company standards, specifications, and engineering requirements for BESS projects and operating assets., • Contribute to design guidance, technical documentation, and engineering review materials., • Support analysis of complex BESS issues and coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to help develop solutions., • Support evaluation of emerging technologies and contribute technical analyses and recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives., • Assist with evaluation of emerging technologies, OEM offerings, and market trends., • Perfom technical analyses and provide engineering support for fleet initiatives, related to augmentation planning, warranty administration, degradation management, performance optimization, and end-of-life planning., • Support lessons-learned documentation and knowledge sharing across the BESS portfolio., • Provide technical support to Due Diligence, Development, Project Execution, Asset Management, and Operations teams on BESS matters., • Coordinate with external engineering consultants and OEM representatives as directed by the ESS Engineering Manager., • Support technical reviews with EPCs, BESS equipment suppliers, and integrator providers on scope, performance guarantees, and related engineering requirements., • Perform data collection, engineering analyses, and documentation to support incident investigations and root-cause analysis related to operating BESS systems., • Contribute to internal energy storage engineering knowledge, templates, and best practices., • Help improve engineering processes, tools, and standards to support project execution and operational performance. Qualifications Required: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Masters preferred., • 3+ years of experience in power generation, renewable energy, or energy storage engineering., • 2+ years of experience in utility-scale BESS engineering with a strong understanding of BESS technologies and applications., • Demonstrated experience supporting utility-scale BESS projects through development, execution, commissioning, and operations., • Working knowledge of utility-scale BESS engineering, including several of the following areas: system architecture, grid integration, controls and EMS, performance analytics, augmentation planning, warranty administration, and system troubleshooting., • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives and coordinating with technical resources, consultants, or contractors., • Proficient in: HomerPro, AutoCAD, Excel, Bluebeam, Word, Smartsheet., • Very organized and able to multitask effectively., • Good communication both written and verbal skill., • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and determination to complete difficult projects., • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies., • Highly developed sense of professional ethics and commitment to quality., • Ability to work both on a team as well as independently., • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy. Preferred: • Experience within an IPP or owner-operator environment., • Experience coordinating with OEMs, integrators, consultants, or EPC teams., • Experience contributing to engineering standards, templates, or process improvements., • Interest in growing technical expertise and contributing to broader team capabilities.
