Medical Science Liaison – Rare Diseases Location: Spain Field-Based Role Position Overview This is a field-based role focused on supporting medical engagement and scientific exchange within the rare disease space. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will act as a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals (HCPs), contribute to evidence generation, and support internal strategy with real-world insights. The MSL will serve as a key bridge between the external medical community and internal stakeholders, ensuring credible, balanced, and up-to-date scientific communication. Key Responsibilities External Scientific Engagement • Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), rare disease specialists, and patient advocacy groups., • Map and regularly update key stakeholders across Spain within relevant rare disease networks., • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries from HCPs with fair, balanced, and evidence-based information., • Lead scientific discussions and deliver presentations on disease area education, current therapies, pipeline assets, and unmet needs., • Support and coordinate advisory boards, expert meetings, educational workshops, and medical symposia. Insight Gathering and Strategic Contribution • Capture and share actionable insights from the field regarding treatment practices, access barriers, and patient journeys., • Communicate findings with cross-functional teams to inform medical planning, clinical development, and market access strategy., • Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance and quality reporting obligations. Data Generation and Clinical Research Support • Identify opportunities for real-world data collection, registries, and investigator-initiated research in rare diseases., • Support feasibility assessments, site identification, and engagement for company-sponsored clinical trials., • Serve as the primary point of contact for unsolicited research concepts and support the evaluation process. Scientific Expertise and Internal Support • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in rare disease biology, emerging therapies, and relevant clinical data., • Deliver internal briefings, congress summaries, and support the review of scientific content across functions., • Contribute to medical training and support development of compliant materials for internal and external use., • Attend major congresses and scientific meetings to gather insights and represent the company. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with medical, market access, commercial, and clinical operations teams to provide strategic input and scientific support., • Align field activities with local and regional medical strategies., • Use CRM tools to document interactions and ensure consistent reporting in line with company policies. Required Qualifications and Experience • Advanced degree in life sciences or medicine (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent)., • Experience in rare diseases or other highly specialized therapeutic areas., • Prior MSL or medical affairs experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry., • Strong clinical understanding of rare disease pathology, treatment landscape, and care models., • Familiarity with investigator-led research and clinical trial processes., • Sound understanding of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to medical affairs.
