ph3ISP Primary Teacher Job Description /h3 pPurpose of Role: To be a dynamic and enthusiastic bPrimary Teacher /b and be able to contribute to the development of schemes of work in the areas of Maths, English and Theme within our Primary Department. Effective planning and delivery of stimulating and engaging lessons is paramount in order to clearly establish high standards for progress, encourage, and support pupils towards achieving their own individual goals. You should be a strong team player with a practical and flexible approach to problem solving and a keenness to play a central role in the continuing development and improvement of our primary school. /p h3Role Specific Duties /h3 ul liResponsible for teaching all subjects in the KS1 or KS2 class group. /li liWork effectively with specialist staff to ensure clear expectations are set in each class. /li liEnsure that the class and Key stage is adequately resourced to meet pupil needs and curriculum requirements. /li liCreate an inspiring learning environment for all pupils. /li liProduce, enhance and constantly develop learning schemes for your year group and collaborate in learning design for your phase. /li liBe available to teach other year groups if required. /li /ul h3ISP Teacher KS1 And KS2 Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liAdhere to global ISP Principles and follow the criteria set out in the ISP Teacher Role Profile. /li liUnder the reasonable direction of the Headteacher and her Senior Leadership Team, carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the current UK Teachers’ standards document: /li liBe accountable for leading, managing and developing teaching and learning in your key stage in line with age‑related curriculum objectives and school policies. /li liReceive 20% of the teaching timetable as PPA time (16/80 periods of 20 minutes) during which staff may be asked to cover for absences when needed. /li liAdditional time to lead a subject area subject to further negotiation. /li /ul h3Strategic Responsibilities /h3 ul liSupport other members of staff to develop their expertise in planning and teaching in your curriculum area. /li liRecord, analyse and interpret data, in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, to set targets to raise levels of achievement and take action within your subject area. /li liTake responsibility for learning development in your year group and Key Stage, contributing toward a whole school Learning Improvement Process (LIP) and the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP) by producing subject‑specific policies and an action plan. /li /ul h3Teaching Responsibilities /h3 ul liIdentify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed. /li liSet engaging tasks that challenge pupils and ensure high interest. /li liEstablish high expectations for all pupils. /li liProvide regular verbal and written feedback, set clear targets, build on prior attainment and encourage reflection to improve learning. /li liIdentify SEN or very able pupils, ensure their needs are met and differentiate learning tasks accordingly. /li liProvide clear lesson structures, maintain pace, motivation and challenge. /li liUse assessment effectively to ensure coverage of topics and both termly and yearly objectives. /li liEmploy a range of teaching strategies to maximise learning quality and quantity. /li liMonitor and intervene to ensure effective learning and high standards of behaviour. /li liEnsure pupils acquire new learning and have ample opportunities to consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught. /li liEvaluate own teaching critically to improve effectiveness and encourage pupils to reflect and give feedback on their learning experience. /li /ul h3Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting /h3 ul liAssess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use results to improve specific aspects of teaching. /li liRegularly review and correct pupils’ work and set targets for progress. /li liRecord pupils’ progress systematically to monitor individual progress and inform future planning. /li liDevelop and apply clear criteria for awarding grades and attainment levels. /li liPrepare and record data for pupil progress reports and present to parents at formal consultations and any other required meetings. /li /ul h3Pastoral Care /h3 ul liAttend to the pastoral needs of the allocated class group. /li liAct as the first point of contact for parents, managing concerns in a timely manner. /li liMonitor welfare and general well‑being of each class member. /li liCarry out termly reviews and set targets to improve progress. /li liAddress pupil concerns raised by other teachers. /li liPromote school values, encourage compliance with rules. /li liAccurately record attendance and punctuality data; report concerns to the Key Stage Leader/Primary Head. /li liPrepare and deliver the PSHE curriculum as directed. /li liHelp plan and participate in class assemblies during the school year. /li /ul h3Operational Responsibilities /h3 ul liAdhere to and promote school policies and procedures, e.g., Behaviour for Learning, Anti‑bullying, Health Safety, Safeguarding etc. /li liShare good‑practice ideas with fellow staff. /li liStay up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology. /li liShare playground and lunchtime duties with other team members. /li liParticipate in continued professional development. /li liAct as an active member of the school community, supporting its vision, values and dedication to continual improvement and promoting learning opportunities. /li /ul h3Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience /h3 ul liQualified Teacher Status (PGCE, BEd or equivalent). /li liDegree‑level education or an equivalent professional qualification. /li /ul h3Essential Knowledge, Skills and Competencies /h3 ul liA real passion for teaching and a desire to constantly improve pupils’ learning experience. /li liThorough knowledge of the Primary Curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2. /li liKnowledge of a wide range of strategies to engage pupils and meet diverse learning needs. /li liWillingness to be flexible and adapt to the ever‑changing needs of the school and its pupils. /li liEnthusiasm and commitment to the successful development of the Primary department. /li /ul h3Person Specification /h3 pThe Person Specification relates to the requirements of the post as determined by this Job Description.
