As a Solar Data Analyst, you will join our Analysis and Operations Services team. You will work collaboratively to monitor, analyse, and report on solar farms that generate and supply electricity. In this role, you will analyse the performance of our fleet of solar farms and their components, escalate faults and underperformance, and communicate findings to relevant teams to ensure reliable and optimal performance of the assets. You will also generate monthly and annual contractual reports for clients. You will provide data analysis and engineering expertise to the Solar Operation & Maintenance and Asset Management teams, aiming to maximise generation and profit for asset owners and RES by ensuring the efficient operation of power plants. A key focus will be to assist with onboarding new sites into RES’s systems and regularly reporting on plant performance and site activities to key partners. You will help standardise processes across assets and drive continuous improvement to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of analysis and reporting. The role requires strong technical skills, data analysis, reporting, and communication to ensure that data-driven insights are actionable and positively impact site operations. The role offers occasional opportunities to travel within the UK and Europe, including visits to other offices and sites. There may also be occasional need to work outside of standard office hours to support operational needs. Key Accountabilities The Solar Data Analyst will: • Analyse historical operational data to identify reasons for variances from budget and expected yield by verifying actual plant output, availability, performance ratio, and various performance KPIs, • Combine operational data with technical knowledge to identify causes of performance variations, drawing on the experience of other RES experts where necessary, • Create high-standard Operation & Maintenance and Asset Management reports using reporting software, • Collaborate with RES’s site and software teams to efficiently and effectively onboard new sites into monitoring and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS), • Monitor operational solar farm performance in real time and assist with subsequent troubleshooting and maintenance, • Assess network and communication issues, identify data loss and perform checks on data integrity, • Analyse historic solar farm data to find plant performance improvement opportunities, • Support continuous improvement of the team’s tools and processes Qualification, Knowledge & Skills • A degree in a relevant field is preferred, with particular emphasis on Engineering or Data Analysis qualifications. Additionally, degrees in the disciplines of SEM (Science, Engineering, and Mathematics) are also advantageous., • Experience in data monitoring, ideally on solar PV farms or other renewable energy sources, • Minimum level of English B2, recommended C1, • Software Systems for monitoring asset/process performance, • Ability to solve challenging technical problems with creative approach, • Ability to communicate data-derived insights to both experts and non-experts, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), • Data analysis skills – experience with Python is desirable, • Valuable experience with any of these systems: SCADA, CMMS, SQL, PVsyst, Azure, Tableu or Power BI RES is a family with a diverse workforce, and we are dedicated to the personal professional growth of our people, no matter what stage of their career they're at.
