Role Overview


The Technical Manager is responsible for managing the IT infrastructure and technical systems that support live studio production. This includes overseeing the installation, maintenance, and performance of all IT, networking, and broadcasting systems used within the studio environment. The role ensures that all production systems are stable, secure, and optimized for 24/7 live operations while leading the IT team in delivering reliable and high-quality technical support.


Key Responsibilities


Studio IT Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure within the studio, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and workstations.
  • Ensure all studio IT systems (video streaming servers, media storage, encoding/decoding systems) operate with high availability and low latency.
  • Manage network architecture supporting live production—ensuring optimal performance, redundancy, and minimal downtime.
  • Supervise the technical setup of new studios, including cabling, hardware installation, network configuration, and system integration.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools for real-time performance of studio systems and networks.

Live Operations Support

  • Provide technical leadership during live studio sessions to prevent and quickly resolve any IT-related disruptions.
  • Coordinate with production and broadcast teams to ensure all systems are functioning optimally before and during live operations.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for rapid troubleshooting and escalation during live incidents.
  • Oversee backup and recovery processes to minimize impact from system failures during critical sessions.

System Integration & Maintenance

  • Manage the integration between IT systems and production technologies such as video mixers, audio systems, cameras, and control panels.
  • Ensure seamless communication between production hardware and software platforms.
  • Coordinate software installations, updates, and patches for studio systems with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Maintain documentation of all IT and studio hardware configurations.

Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Secure studio systems and networks using firewalls, antivirus solutions, and access control protocols.
  • Monitor system access and ensure compliance with internal security standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities in production systems.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery for media and production data.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Lead technical setup projects for new studio expansions, relocations, or upgrades.
  • Manage relationships with external IT and AV vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality service.
  • Evaluate new technologies to enhance studio performance and reliability.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective procurement and deployment.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and train IT support staff working across studio environments.
  • Schedule and oversee IT coverage for 24/7 production operations.
  • Foster collaboration between IT, broadcast, and operations teams to ensure cohesive technical performance.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review performance metrics, incidents, and improvement plans.

Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Track and report on system uptime, performance issues, and incident resolution rates.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all IT systems, studio layouts, and equipment inventories.
  • Generate reports on infrastructure performance, maintenance activities, and future upgrade needs.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English.
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure in a studio, broadcast, or live operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN, VLAN, switches, firewalls) and server management (Windows/Linux environments).
  • Experience with video streaming technologies, AV equipment, and real-time production systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting both hardware and software in high-demand, real-time settings.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, virtualization platforms, and backup solutions.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity practices and compliance with data protection standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 live operations environment and handle on-call situations.
