Purpose of Job: A key member of the team, providing high standards of person-centred support and overnight care to clients. Undertaking shifts to cover evenings and weekends. Responsible for medication administration, ensuring safety and support of clients and general upkeep of the house. This role may occasionally include sleep-ins. Lunch or Dinner included. Must drive. Person appointed will carry out the following duties and additionally duties not specified. Daily Duties: • To be available to residents for support and facilitate evening recovery group, • Check in and interact with clients in order to provide safety, direction and guidance. • To support clients in their activities of daily living, • To manage money boxes for clients and keep records up to date., • Distribute items from linen closest as requested and record., • Encourage clients to hold a closing group each evening end of the day and help facilitate if needed. • Ensure client inventories are fully completed and handed in if not then assist them in doing so. • Distribute phones and other electronic equipment to clients on specified days and ensure all are returned to lockers. • When guests are permitted ensure bags are checked or handed to staff., • Support client treatment plans and encourage progress towards goals., • Assist with bag check and admissions paperwork for new arrivals., • Support clients with recovery planning or other homework., • To help facilitate a community group for clients, • Distribute meds and PRN’s and record in meds book – ensure all clients take these in front of you. • To be proficient in record-keeping, • Respect client confidentially and an awareness of data protection, • To participate in handovers, staff meeting and appropriate training, • To be available for supervision, • To be on call in case of emergency during “sleep-ins”, • Assists clients in maintaining room and facility cleanliness. Monitor facility to insure it is maintained in a neat and orderly manner and that all outside doors remained secured and aircon is turned off in communal areas. • Report serious maintenance issues to on call and record low level issues in handover book. • To always accompany clients, whether in Camino or outside. To provide transportation for clients to and from meetings and gym sessions. • Provide care to clients in a manner that is empathic and demonstrates unconditional positive regard while promoting safety. • Ensure that managers and colleagues are updated through regular communication in team meeting, handover book and whatsapp group to ensure that necessary changes can be made and all team members are kept up to date Personal Requirements: Essential: • To be able to work effectively as a lone worker with a client group with challenging needs • To be able to establish clear professional boundaries in their work with staff and clients • Excellent verbal communication skills and a non judgemental and flexible approach towards client care • High degree of self awareness, • To be reliable and punctual, • Have a clean driver ́s licence, • Ability to meet the physical demands involved in providing care and support to clients • Flexibility to work a range of shifts and to work in different services as required • Ability to a be a “lone worker” much of the time with minimal contact with colleagues and line manager • Good understanding of the importance of Confidentiality and the ability to respect this on practice in relation to clients and colleagues • Understanding and acceptance of Camino ́s values and the ability to put these into practice in day to day working Beneficial: • Educated to degree level or equivalent is desirable but not essential, preferable in Counselling or related discipline/or working towards • Accreditation with FDAP would be an advantage, • At least 2 years ́ experience in working with people experiencing additional mental health difficulties • Personal recovery would be an advantage, • Experience of working with addicted Healthcare Professionals would be an advantage/or willingness to learn • To have completed a medication management certificate is desirable, • A working knowledge of the use of interventions proven to be beneficial, for example, Brief Interventions such as Motivational Enhancemnt Therapies (MET) and the 12-Step approach • Knowledge of current approaches in treating substance misuse problems, • Knowledge of the problems associated with the use of illicit drugs and alcohol Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to communicate with clients and other staff members in a clear and concise manner • Ability to clearly record notes and other records relating to clients in a clear and concise manner • Willing to support clients as people, irrespective of age, health problems, or reason for support • Understanding Health and Safety as it applies to clients and staff at Camino, • Ability to work as part of a team, • A strong ‘can do’ attitude, flexibility, resourcefulness and emotional resilience, • Work in line with Camino ́s policies and procedure Note: Every job description in the organisation will be subject to a review either; • as a result of a change in strategic direction, or, • as a result of a team/operational requirements
