ppWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Exploration / Appraisal Geologist to join our Subsurface Team based in Madrid. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and maturing exploration and appraisal opportunities across an international portfolio of upstream oil and gas assets. /p pThe position requires a strong technical background in petroleum geology, basin analysis, prospect generation, resource assessment, and field appraisal. The candidate will work closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, petrophysicists, drilling teams, and management to support exploration, appraisal, business development, and field development activities. /p pThis is an excellent opportunity for a geologist with a proven track record in both exploration and appraisal projects who wishes to contribute to the growth of a dynamic international EP company. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead geological evaluations of exploration opportunities across multiple basins and play types. /li liIdentify, mature, and rank exploration leads and prospects. /li liConduct basin analysis, petroleum systems evaluation, and play fairway assessments. /li liIntegrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and geochemical data to reduce subsurface uncertainty. /li liEvaluate source rock, reservoir, seal, and trap effectiveness. /li liSupport acreage evaluations, licensing rounds, and new venture opportunities. /li liPlan and execute appraisal programs to reduce reservoir and volumetric uncertainties. /li liAssess reservoir continuity, compartmentalization, and field development implications. /li liSupport resource maturation from discovery through development planning. /li liContribute to reserves and contingent resources evaluations. /li liParticipate in field development studies and FDP preparation. /li liGenerate and mature exploration prospects from regional screening to drill‑ready status. /li liPerform geological chance of success assessments. /li liConduct volumetric evaluations and uncertainty analyses. /li liPrepare prospect risk and resource estimates according to industry standards. /li liProvide geological input for exploration and appraisal well planning. /li liSupport well trajectory design and location selection. /li liParticipate in drilling operations, wellsite decision‑making, and post‑well evaluations. /li liAnalyze well results and update geological models accordingly. /li liWork closely with geophysicists on seismic interpretation and structural framework development. /li liCollaborate with reservoir engineers and petrophysicists to build integrated reservoir models. /li liParticipate in multidisciplinary asset teams supporting exploration and development projects. /li liEvaluate farm‑in, farm‑out, acquisition, and divestment opportunities. /li liConduct technical due diligence on upstream assets and exploration portfolios. /li liSupport commercial teams during asset valuation exercises. /li liPresent technical recommendations to senior management and investment committees. /li liMentor junior geologists and contribute to technical excellence initiatives. /li liPromote best practices in geological interpretation and resource assessment. /li liParticipate in peer reviews and technical assurance processes. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul libEducation: /b Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, or a related discipline. Master’s degree in Petroleum Geology, Sedimentology, Basin Analysis, or a related field preferred. /li libExperience: /b Minimum 10 years of experience in exploration and appraisal geology within the oil and gas industry. Proven experience in international exploration and appraisal projects. Strong track record of prospect generation, evaluation, and drilling support. Experience working across multiple geological settings and hydrocarbon systems. Exposure to both conventional and unconventional resources is considered an advantage. /li libTechnical Skills: /b Petroleum systems analysis, basin modeling, regional geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, exploration risk and resource assessment, prospect maturation and ranking, geological modeling software (Petrel, Kingdom, WellData, GeoX Decision Space), and geological and volumetric analysis. Proficiency with industry standards such as PRMS.
