We are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Project Manager to support the delivery of a major pumped storage hydropower project in Spain (Navaleo). The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of project execution, with a particular focus on civil engineering works, including tunnels, shafts, dams, underground caverns, and hydraulic structures. This project will be based in Ponferrada, near Leon and we offer certain flexibility location-wise. Key Responsibilities • Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing all phases of the project lifecycle., • Lead and supervise civil engineering activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations., • Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of civil works., • Monitor construction progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies., • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and schedules., • Participate in stakeholder meetings and represent the project in technical discussions with authorities and partners., • Ensure quality control and adherence to contractual obligations., • Assist in budget management and cost tracking related to civil components. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field., • Minimum 8 years of experience in large infrastructure or hydropower projects, preferably including pumped storage., • Proven experience in managing or coordinating civil works on complex construction sites with Capex > 20 MEuros., • Strong understanding of geotechnical, hydraulic, and structural engineering principles., • Familiarity with Spanish construction regulations and permitting processes is an asset., • Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a strong advantage., • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
