Data Scientist Remote • Spain • Permanent • AI / ML / Data Science A well-funded, early-stage performance intelligence startup is looking for a Data Scientist who’s ready to build things that genuinely matter — not just running models in a notebook, but shipping AI that changes how people and teams work. This isn’t a pure research role. You’ll be the person who helps shape how insights are generated, interpreted, and evolved — for individuals and organisations alike. You’ll work directly with the Founder in a small, high-trust team, building ML models, statistical frameworks, and AI agents that sit at the heart of the product. The platform is moving toward an agent-first architecture. What you’ll be doing • Building, training, and deploying ML models — from exploratory analysis through to production-ready solutions, • Developing and deploying AI agents using Databricks, Google AI Studio and/or Azure AI Foundry, • Helping shape how insights are designed, interpreted, and evolved over time — bringing critique and thinking to model design, data analysis, and agent UX, • Applying statistical rigour to psychometric and survey data — validating measurement frameworks and surfacing meaningful correlations, • Pushing the platform beyond aggregation into predictive modelling, deep learning, and generative AI, • Translating complex findings into clear, actionable outputs for product decisions and client-facing reports What they’re looking for Essential • Applied data science, ML, or statistics experience — real-world work, not just academic environments, • Strong Python and ML framework skills — scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar, • Solid statistical foundations: hypothesis testing, regression, experimental design, • SQL and data manipulation at scale, • The applied instinct to translate data into product decisions and user-facing insights, • Self-directed confidence — you’ve owned outcomes, not just contributed to them, • Comfortable operating autonomously in conditions of genuine uncertainty, • Professional English proficiency (B2+) Desirable • GenAI, LLM/SLM integration, prompt engineering, or agentic AI workflows, • AI/NLP and agent-based experience in a product or commercial context, • Cloud AI platforms — GCP, Azure, Databricks, • Background in behavioural science, organisational psychology, or psychometrics, • Startup experience — you know what it means to ship fast and wear multiple hats, • Spark, Databricks, or distributed computing Why this role • Remote-first, flexible working — based anywhere in Spain, • High ownership from day one — your ideas will shape product and technical direction, • Monthly in-person meetups in Valencia, • Competitive salary with bi-annual reviews, • A team culture built on autonomy, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving, • A genuine chance to build cutting-edge AI with meaningful real-world impact This search is managed exclusively by Vermillion Analytics.
