FIA Balloons is a luxury balloon décor and event design company based in New York City, creating custom installations for weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, and brand collaborations. We're a small, founder-led team building something people genuinely love and we're looking for a reliable, creative contractor to help with balloon production and craft work, primarily in our Midtown office, with occasional on-site event work. This role is mostly based in our workspace — inflating hellium balloons, building balloon garlands, arches, and installations for events — with occasional on-site work when a job requires setup at the venue itself. You'll be offered jobs as they come up and can accept based on your own availability. Scope of Work In-Office (Primary — most of the work) • Inflating and prepping balloons for upcoming installations, • Building balloon garlands, arches, columns, and other décor pieces ahead of events, • Simple sewing machine work, • Painting and finishing work on props or décor pieces, • Cutting materials to spec (fabric, paper, foam, etc.), • Printing materials as needed for events/products, • General hands-on production support for upcoming jobs On-Site (Occasional) • Installing finished balloon pieces at the event venue, • Transporting completed materials/equipment to and from event venues, • Following design references/plans to match the client's vision on-site, • Occasional breakdown/removal after events Requirements • Relevant experience in balloon décor, sewing, painting, or general hands-on/creative production work, • Comfortable using a sewing machine and basic craft/production tools, • Flexible availability, including weekends — jobs offered as they come up; no guaranteed hours, • Comfortable with physical labor and, when on-site, ladder work — standing, reaching, climbing, lifting materials, • Creative eye and attention to detail; able to follow a design reference accurately, • Based in or able to regularly work from our Midtown Manhattan workspace; able to occasionally travel to event venues across Manhattan Engagement Details • Classification: Independent Contractor — engaged on a per-job/per-project basis (primarily office production days, occasional on-site events), • Pay: $18–23/hour, depending on experience level, • Schedule: No fixed hours — you'll be offered individual jobs and can accept or decline based on your own availability, • Location: Primarily our Midtown Manhattan workspace; occasional on-site work at event venues across NYC, • Start: Immediate Why Work With This Role 🎈 Hands-on, creative production work with occasional event-day variety 🚀 Full control over which jobs you take and when 💬 Direct collaboration with the founder 🌱 Ongoing opportunities as more events and product lines get added How to Apply Please apply with a brief note on your relevant experience, including photos of any balloon, painting, or hands-on production work.
