School Finance & Administration Manager - Temporary to Permanent Opportunity (Primary or Federation Experience) Location: East London Hourly Rate: £24–£25 per hour PAYE Hours: 40 hours per week, 9.00am – 6.00pm Contract: Term time only plus 3 weeks(1 week at Easter, 2 weeks in summer) Line management responsibility for: Site Manager, Catering Team and Administrative Team Free on-site car parking available Interviews:Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview next week, Thursday. Are you an experienced Finance & Administration Manager looking for a temporary to permanent opportunity in a supportive East London primary school? This is a pivotal leadership support role offering real influence, variety, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact within a school community. The school is seeking a proactive, organised and commercially-minded professional to lead its finance and administration function. Reporting to the Headteacher and working closely with federation colleagues, you will be at the heart of the school’s operations — ensuring strong financial control, effective systems and well-managed support services. This role combines hands-on operational management with strategic oversight, enabling teaching staff to focus on delivering high-quality education while you ensure the school runs efficiently, compliantly and smoothly day to day. In this role, you will: • Lead financial management, budgeting, monitoring and reporting, • Oversee premises, compliance, health & safety and operational services, • Manage HR administration and act as liaison with payroll, • Oversee catering services and school lettings, • Line manage diverse teams, driving high standards and continuous improvement About You You will bring: • Significant experience in a finance, administration or school business management role, • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting, • Experience line managing staff and leading operational teams, • Good working knowledge of HR administration, safeguarding and payroll processes, • A strong understanding of compliance, health & safety and data protection, • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills, • Experience in a primary school or federated setting, • Knowledge of Local Authority education finance systems This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory safer recruitment checks.
