Our Glasgow fostering team supports foster families and children across Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, Argyll and Bute. • Support foster carers and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for all children and young people in foster care, • Support and monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children and young people, • Ensure that carers fully understand the fostering task, competencies to be achieved and the standards expected, including complaints and representation procedures as detailed in Fosterplus policies and procedures, • Provide and record regular supervision to allocated foster carers in line with Fosterplus' Operational Standards, • Work in partnership in a team parenting approach to help identify any needs within foster families, e.g. respite, activities, therapy and holidays, contributing to relevant meetings and associated tasks, • Ensure each child and foster carer is fully compliant in respect of all key documentation, • Attend meetings and/or provide reports for commissioning teams to address individual packages of care, • Promote participation of children and young people in the development of the agency and in accessing resources and opportunities in their local community, • Participate in an 'out of hours' support service on a rota basis, • Undertake occasional initial home visits and Form F Assessments, • A Social Work qualification, • Professional registration with SSSC or equivalent, • Proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing, • A comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures, • The willingness and ability to travel extensively, • Confidence in transporting children and young people in sometimes challenging situations, • Full driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle, • You will remain calm under pressure, particularly in emotionally challenging situations, • You will demonstrate strong professional curiosity, • You will have the ability to engage others and work collaboratively with creativity, • You will be able to make timely and effective decisions and lead by example If you're passionate about changing lives, we'd love to hear from you-apply now and we'll be in touch with you shortly! You will also be responsible for the following: • Pre-operative testing; conducting tests prior to examination and treatment and assisting during the consent appointment process, including providing information to patients prior to their IOL or LVC procedure., • Patient discharging; instructing the patient pre and post procedure on the care of the eyes, updating medical records, making follow up appointments., • Laser technician; preparation and calibration of the lasers, understanding data, loading and transferring data, safe running of the lasers., • Co-ordinating: Controlling patient flow on the day of the consent appointment and surgery appointments to ensure minimum waiting times for patients and managing queries., • Assisting the surgeon during consent appointments and treatments – acting as scrub assistant (LVC only); taking notes for the surgeon; instilling eye drops., • Undertaking the role of ‘HCA’ (Healthcare Assistant) in IOL theatre to assist the surgical team and patients during surgery and associated tasks such as decontamination of instruments., • Actively participating in the end of treatment day activities; updating patient files, filing, compiling ‘end of day’ reports for head office, cleaning the department, stock and lens ordering., • Reporting untoward incidents – taking an active role in patient safety issues and quality and risk management.
