We’re Hiring: Operations Manager (Hands-On Manufacturing Leadership) 📍 Essex / Hertfordshire (split-site role) I’m currently supporting an innovative, growing engineering and manufacturing business who are looking to bring in a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee production across two UK sites. This is a key hire for the business, working closely with the Managing Director and taking ownership of day-to-day operations, with real influence across production, quality, and overall business performance. This is not a corporate role, we’re looking for someone who has come from the shop floor and enjoys being close to the detail. 🔧 Key Responsibilities: • Oversee manufacturing operations across two sites, • Lead production planning, ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality output, • Drive continuous improvement across processes, workflow, and efficiency, • Manage stock control, supply chain coordination, and operational KPIs, • Work closely with quality to maintain and improve QMS and compliance standards, • Lead, coach, and develop a small, close-knit team, • Support broader business decisions including budgeting, investment, and planning ✅ What We’re Looking For: • Proven experience in a hands-on operations / production / manufacturing leadership role, • Background in engineering or machining (CNC, precision engineering, or similar highly desirable), • Experience working within SME environments (comfortable wearing multiple hats), • Strong understanding of workshop environments and production processes, • Exposure to CAD / technical drawings is beneficial, • Knowledge of quality systems, audits, and health & safety, • Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, low-ego mindset 💡 Why This Role? • Opportunity to step into a broad, high-impact position within a growing business, • Close working relationship with senior leadership and real influence on operations, • Friendly, team-oriented culture with a hands-on, supportive environment, • A role where you can genuinely shape processes, teams, and future growth If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to apply or reach out directly for a confidential discussion.
