Salary range: £28,000 - £30,000 Petcover Group is a global insurance agency, providing both personal and commercial insurance across the UK, EU, Australia and New Zealand. This role plays a key part in supporting the underwriting team in assessing commercial and personal insurance risks to protect the insurer, reduce exposure, and contribute to the profitable performance of our product portfolio. Responsibilities and Activities • Prioritise and process underwriting referrals in line with SLA requirements, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making., • Review proposal forms, financials, risk surveys, claims histories and other relevant documentation to identify exposures and ensure appropriate cover is offered., • Evaluate claims activity to determine its effect on renewal terms, pricing, and risk appetite., • Make underwriting decisions in accordance with agreed authority levels and escalate cases outside guidelines., • Review risks falling outside standard underwriting criteria, determining whether cover can be offered and at what terms, conditions, or pricing., • Assess previously applied endorsements or exclusions to confirm whether they remain appropriate for the risk., • Help sales and customer service teams explain underwriting decisions clearly and professionally to brokers or customers., • · Identify opportunities to refine product wordings, terms, and underwriting processes to reduce exposure and enhance profitability., • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across underwriting, sales, claims, and operations., • Adhere to company policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements., • Undertake regular learning and development in line with company and FCA expectations., • Provide administrative and analytical support as required. Required Skills • 1-2 years of commercial underwriting experience. Experience in pet insurance is beneficial but not essential., • Ability to analyse information, identify exposures, and make sound recommendations., • A natural inclination to question, probe, and understand risk drivers., • Accuracy in reviewing documents, data, and underwriting outputs., • Clear and confident verbal and written communication, including explaining technical decisions., • Ability to manage multiple referrals and deadlines effectively., • Comfortable using underwriting platforms and keen to learn new systems., • Including GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths., • A commitment to delivering excellent service to brokers and customers., • A willingness to take initiative and support the wider team.
