Job Title: In-House Seamstress / Tailor Location: South Kensington, London Start Date: Urgent — we need someone to start this week Contract: Full-time holiday cover for our Head Tailor throughout September, moving to a part-time basis (2 days a week, flexible) from October onwards Salary: £150–£200 per day, dependent on relevant experience About Holden & Hunt Holden & Hunt started as Gormley & Gamble — London's first women-only tailor in the history of Savile Row's 200 years, creating exquisitely crafted garments for discerning women. From bespoke dresses to beautifully finished suits, we specialise in one-of-a-kind, made-to-measure pieces that empower women to feel confident, strong, and utterly themselves. Based in South Kensington and born on Savile Row, our ethos is simple: women deserve tailoring that fits — not just their bodies, but their lifestyles too. We're looking for a meticulous, highly skilled Freelance In-House Tailor/Seamstress to provide full-time holiday cover for our Head Tailor this September, continuing on a part-time basis afterwards. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our bespoke production process — working within a creative, fast-paced environment to craft beautifully finished garments for our discerning clientele. We need someone brilliant, with the most exceptional finishing techniques, to join us urgently — ideally starting this week. Based primarily in our South Kensington atelier, you'll manage client alterations and be responsible for the creation of bespoke garments, from toiles through to finished pieces. Key Responsibilities • Handle all client alterations, from simple adjustments to complex garment reworkings, • Create one-off bespoke pieces, including toiles and final garments, • Assist at fittings when required, ensuring exceptional fit, finish, and presentation, • Collaborate closely with the pattern cutter, design, and fitting teams to bring each client's vision to life, • Ensure all garments meet Holden & Hunt's exacting standards of quality and craftsmanship, • Manage your own workload effectively, balancing multiple projects and deadlines What We're Looking For • A meticulous approach and an exceptional eye for detail and precision — nothing less than perfect finishing will do, • Proven experience as a seamstress or tailor within a bespoke, couture, or luxury fashion environment for 10+ years, • Technically very accomplished, with expert hand and machine sewing, garment finishing, and complex alterations, • Proven experience with luxury garment finishing techniques, • Exceptional skill and confidence working with delicate fabrics, particularly silk, • Preferably formally trained — Savile Row or another renowned institution — though this is not essential, • Smartly dressed and well presented at all times, particularly during client fittings and while in the studio; first impressions matter to us, • A genuine team player who goes above and beyond, • Ability to work quickly and independently while maintaining exceptional quality, • Strong communication skills and a friendly, collaborative approach during client fittings, • A genuine love for beautiful clothes and empowering women through your craft, • Previous tailoring or luxury womenswear experience strongly preferred, • Pattern cutting experience advantageous but not essential Additional Info • This role starts as freelance, with the intention to move to a permanent position for the right candidate, • From October, we need someone available 2 days a week — we're flexible on which days To Apply Please send your CV, along with two examples of your best work — the pieces of sewing you're most proud of — by email. Given how urgently we need to fill this role, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so please get in touch as soon as possible.

Midweight Textile Designer - World's Finest Luxury Textiles & Fabrics

  hace 13 horas

  London

If you're a creative textile designer with a love of weave, this is an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of the fabrics side of an internationally recognised luxury brand's design studio. Perhaps you're in a larger studio where you only get to contribute to one part of the process. You've got more ideas than you're able to use, and you're ready for real ownership, creative freedom and the chance to make a visible impact. Let's take you back to 1992… A Story Woven in Discovery Born in South Africa with an adventurous spirit and a passion for discovery, our founder Bernie de Le Cuona set out to find the world's finest natural fibres and artisans. The result was de Le Cuona : linens unlike anything seen before, wonderfully soft, beautifully textured and enriched by a colour palette inspired by Africa's landscapes. Today, with showrooms in London and New York, de Le Cuona is more than fabric. It's a lifestyle defined by refined creativity, authenticity, comfort, beauty and soul. We're now looking for a talented Midweight Textile Designer to join our Windsor studio and help shape the next chapter of our woven fabric collections. The Role at a Glance Midweight Textile Designer Competitive Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits Windsor, Berkshire | Fully Office-Based | Parking Available | Direct Rail Links from Richmond, Putney & London Waterloo Full Time – Permanent | Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm Reporting to: Design Manager Sector: Luxury Interiors | Premium Textiles | Woven Fabric Design Your Background / Skills: Woven Textile Design, Weave Structures, Fabric Development, Furnishing Fabrics, Collection Development, Yarns & Natural Fibres, Colour & Texture, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD, Mill Collaboration. Product / Service: Award-winning luxury textiles and accessories, responsibly crafted from the world's finest natural fibres, including flax, wool, silk, hemp, cashmere and alpaca, plus a bespoke interior tailoring service. Pedigree: Pure, Best Plains collection, Homes & Gardens, 2021 Bernie de Le Cuona named one of the 50 Most Influential People in British Luxury, 2020 Showstopper Award, World of Interiors, 2020 Fabric of The Year, Elle Decoration Russia, 2019 Art of Design, VERANDA, 2010 Your Role in the Story Our studio is small, close-knit and full of ideas. It's three of us: our Design Manager, an accessories designer, and you. Just as our accessories designer owns accessories, you'll take ownership of fabric development and run with it, freeing our Design Manager to focus on management, strategy and planning. Weave sits at the heart of what we do. You'll take fabrics from first inspiration through to sampling, production and launch, experimenting with structure, yarn, colour and texture, and working closely with specialist mills and artisans to bring your ideas to life. Our look is distinctive and quietly confident, so you'll channel your creativity into the de Le Cuona aesthetic, pushing boundaries while staying true to who we are. With two collection launches a year, plus bespoke projects and exclusive collaborations with other luxury brands, there's plenty of variety. If you want to get involved in sourcing, supplier meetings or presenting collections to our sales team, the opportunity is there. What success looks like: Designing original woven fabrics, exploring weave structures, yarns, colour, texture and finishes. Owning fabric development projects from concept and research through sampling, production and launch. Giving mills, suppliers and artisans clear, confident creative and technical direction. Managing timelines, sampling, specifications, deliveries and studio documentation, including SAP and launch trackers. Researching trends, archives and innovations, including at UK and international trade shows, and spotting gaps in the range. Sourcing innovative yarns, fabrics, trims and materials. Presenting concepts using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and CAD. Partnering with Marketing on launches, photoshoots and special projects. Bringing energy to the studio, and stepping in confidently when the Design Manager is away. About You You're a passionate, imaginative designer who understands how woven cloth is made and gets a buzz from seeing ideas become finished products. You're as comfortable managing the practical detail as you are pitching new ideas, and in a small team you bring a genuine can-do attitude. You'll bring: Typically 3+ years in a textile design role within a UK design studio, ideally in luxury interiors or furnishing fabrics. Hands-on woven design experience. If your background is mainly print, time in a weave studio is essential. A strong understanding of weave structures, yarns, fabric composition and manufacturing processes. Experience taking fabrics from concept to launch and working directly with mills or manufacturers. Advanced Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skills. A portfolio showing original ideas and launched or finished woven work. Excellent organisation and the ability to juggle multiple projects. Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, and the right to work in the UK. Highly Desirable Woven furnishing fabric experience with a recognised interiors or textile brand. Experience across both print and weave, for example within a larger textile house. Experience with SAP or similar systems. What's on Offer Competitive Salary Company Bonus Scheme Private Healthcare Company Pension Scheme Gym Membership Ongoing Career Development Exposure to Industry Events, Specialist Mills and Luxury Sector Networking Bespoke Projects and Exclusive Creative Collaborations A Collaborative Creative Studio in the Heart of Windsor Why Join de Le Cuona? This is your chance to own the fabrics side of a celebrated luxury studio, where your ideas shape entire collections, not just one stage of the process, and all without the London commute. Please apply with your CV and design portfolio , ideally including woven fabrics or collections you've helped develop from concept to finished product. We look forward to hearing from you. Application Notice We take your privacy seriously. As you might expect, you may be contacted by email, text or telephone.
