Choice Pet Supplies is a small business in Hemel Hempstead. We have been trading for seven years and continue to steadily grow in customers and sales. We are particularly focused on products for dogs, and our particular strengths are an excellent range of frozen raw food, and friendly, helpful staff. The successful applicant will be someone who: • Is confident and enjoys talking to people from all walks of life, • is an animal lover, and is confident working with dogs, • is friendly, professional, and patient, • is capable of lifting products that weigh up to 22kg, • is smart and approachable in their appearance, • has good basic numeracy and excellent communication skills, • Has good attention to detail, and takes pride in the appearance of our stores, • enjoys learning about pet products and takes pride in offering the best service and advice We are looking for someone to work in our store in Hemel Hempstead, who is also able to occasionally help in our store in Radlett, so own transport is essential. This is a very service-driven business, so you must be someone who is actively helpful, and takes pride in offering the best service and advice. The job can be quite physical at times, involving lifting products weighing up to 22kg, and a lot of time spent on your feet. Our store in Radlett has a flight of stairs dividing the two areas of the shop. No one is employed to just work on the tills; we are all expected to clean, restock, stock-take, date-check, take out the rubbish, and everything else required to keep a store running well. We get many dogs of all sizes in store, so confidence and experience with dogs is essential. We sell lots of natural treats, such as chicken feet and pigs ears etc, and our speciality is a large selection of frozen raw food. Days when availability would be most useful are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ideally we are looking for someone happy to work at least one weekend day and a week day each week. The initial contract will be for just 15 hours, but for the right person, more hours may be offered over time. Employees get a staff discount, and if the business has a good year, there is a Christmas bonus. We are a sociable team, who occasionally get together outside of work.
