Experienced Butcher Wanted for Traditional Family Business
We are seeking an experienced, time-served butcher to join our busy, traditional family butcher's shop. This is a hands-on role combining butchery production, counter service, customer interaction, and general butchery operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Butchery production, including preparation and cutting behind the scenes.
- Providing excellent counter service and engaging with customers front of house.
- General butchery operations.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week.
- Working days: Tuesday – Saturday.
- Closed Sundays & Monday.
- Typical daily hours:
- Tuesday: 6am-3pm
- Wednesday: 6:30am-2pm
- Thursday: 6:30am-3pm
- Friday: 6am-3pm
- Saturday: 6am-2pm
- Some days may require early starts for production and/or later finishes for order completion and cleaning.
Compensation:
- Competitive pay based on experience.
Requirements:
- Must be a time-served butcher with essential experience.
- Strong knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Applicant must be 18 years or over.
- Successful candidates will undergo an 8-week probation period.
Selection Process:
- A block test will be required as part of the selection process to demonstrate butchery skills and knife competence.
