Site Manager / Joiner

Construction Manager / Director
Job Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day management of construction and refurbishment projects while carrying out or supervising joinery works where required. The Site Manager / Joiner is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Management

  • Manage daily site operations from start to completion.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
  • Prepare and maintain project programmes and work schedules.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve site issues promptly.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks.
  • Maintain accurate site records.
  • Liaise with clients and surveyors.
  • Organise material deliveries and site logistics.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Joinery Duties

  • Carry out first and second fix joinery where required.
  • Install doors, windows, kitchens, flooring, staircases, skirting, architraves, and bespoke timber work.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all joinery work meets company quality standards.
  • Assist with snagging and final project handovers.

Health & Safety

  • Enforce Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Complete risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Ensure correct use of PPE.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses.

Quality Control

  • Inspect workmanship throughout each stage of the project.
  • Ensure defects are identified and rectified promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of finish and customer satisfaction.

Communication

  • Act as the main point of contact on site.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Provide regular progress updates to management and clients.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and subcontractors.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of building regulations and construction methods.
  • Proven experience managing construction or refurbishment sites.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Gold or Black Card
  • First Aid at Work
