Job Title: Baby Bank Co-ordinator


Responsible to Baby Bank Trustees


There are two vacancies for part-time Baby Bank
Co-ordinators: one 18-hour contract and one 12-hour contract


Hours: 18 hours or 12 hours; worked mainly Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am-3pm, with some occasional additional weekend and evening flexibility also required (to cover fundraising events or emergencies)


Location: Based at Hartlepool Baby Bank, Avenue Road, Hartlepool


Salary: £12.71 per hour


Benefits: 101 hours annual leave for 18-hour contract, 67 hours annual leave for 12-hour contract, plus Bank Holidays, plus up to 15 hours between Christmas and New Year due to whole Baby Bank closure.


2 Background
Hartlepool Baby Bank is an award winning, thriving community charity serving pregnant women and families in need across Hartlepool and surrounding areas. Based in the heart of the town centre, the Baby Bank is open to the public 3 days a week and offers emergency service all year round.


3 Job purpose
You will work closely with the trustee board to deliver a friendly, welcoming, supportive service to those in need of the Baby Bank. You will be responsible for sorting donations, fulfilling wish lists and offering parent to parent support to local families. You will supervise the two Baby Bank Session Workers and a small team of volunteers.



4 Professional support and development
Training and support will be provided as required to continue your professional development.


5 Required skills
o Rapport building – you will have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and use these to form constructive, empathetic working relationships with colleagues, volunteers and local families.
o Writing and numeracy skills – you will be literate – able to write clearly – and numerate.
o Confidentiality - you will understand that families’ details must remain confidential and be compliant with the Data Protection Act 2018.
o Previous experience – you will have experience volunteering or working with families or children, or within a charity environment.


No formal qualifications are required.
The role requires regular travel to homes across Hartlepool and surrounding areas to deliver supplies. You must be able to meet the travel requirements of this position. Successful candidates will undergo enhanced DBS checking.


6 Additional contractual and financial information


Salary – Calculated as National Living Wage (21 and over) and will be updated in accordance with statutory requirements on 1 April.


Pension – Hartlepool Baby Bank will contribute 3% of salary to a recognised pension provider of the postholder’s choice.


Contract length – 3 years (dependent on external funding). Any continuation of employment past the initial three-year period depends on securing additional funding.
