Job Summary
The Forklift Area Sales Manager is responsible for developing and growing sales of forklift trucks, warehouse equipment, material handling solutions, service contracts and related products within a designated territory. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, generating revenue growth and achieving sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development: Identify new opportunities, generate leads, sell forklifts and warehouse equipment, conduct demonstrations, prepare quotations, negotiate contracts and maintain a sales pipeline.
Customer Relationship Management: Build strong relationships, conduct regular visits, provide expert advice, resolve concerns and ensure customer retention.
Fleet & Equipment Solutions: Assess operational needs, promote new and used equipment, rental and finance solutions, service contracts and aftermarket sales.
Territory Management: Manage assigned area, maintain CRM records, produce reports and develop account plans.
Collaboration: Work with service, parts, rental and operations teams and support exhibitions and marketing activities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Revenue growth, gross profit, new customer acquisition, customer retention, units sold, service contract sales, customer satisfaction, territory growth and CRM compliance.
Required Qualifications
GCSEs/A-Levels or equivalent. Sales, business or engineering qualifications preferred. Minimum 2-5 years B2B sales experience. Forklift, material handling, plant or capital equipment sales experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong sales and negotiation skills, excellent communication, CRM proficiency, commercial awareness, customer relationship management, organisational skills and a full UK driving licence.
Personal Attributes
Self-motivated, professional, customer-focused, resilient, proactive, adaptable and team orientated.
Working Conditions
Frequent travel throughout the territory, regular customer visits and attendance at trade events. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Compensation & Earning Potential
Basic Salary: £33,000 + Dependant on experience Typical OTE: £60,000–£85,000+
