PGM Fishmongers Limited is looking for an experienced and reliable Fishmonger to join our team in
Wembley.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing fresh fish for retail sale, maintaining high
standards of food hygiene and product quality, and providing a professional service to customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities - Prepare fresh fish for retail sale, including cleaning, scaling, gutting, washing, boning and
filleting. - Cut, trim and portion fish according to customer requirements and business specifications. - Prepare different varieties of fish using appropriate knives, tools and equipment. - Check fish for freshness, quality and suitability for sale. - Arrange and maintain fresh fish displays in a clean and presentable condition. - Rotate stock appropriately and assist with monitoring freshness and stock levels. - Serve customers and prepare fish according to individual customer requirements. - Handle, store and refrigerate fish correctly in accordance with food safety requirements. - Clean and sanitise knives, equipment, preparation areas and work surfaces. - Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and workplace cleanliness. - Follow the company's food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures. - Assist with receiving and checking deliveries of fresh fish and related products. - Carry out other reasonable duties directly associated with the Fishmonger role.
Candidate Requirements - Previous practical experience in fishmongering or professional fish preparation. - Competent in cleaning, cutting, boning and filleting different types of fish. - Good knowledge of safe knife handling and food preparation practices. - Understanding of food hygiene and safe storage requirements. - Ability to assess the freshness and quality of fish. - Good communication and customer service skills. - Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team. - Able to work safely in a busy fresh-food retail environment.
