Job Purpose

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant receipt, storage, inventory control, and dispatch of goods. The post holder will supervise warehouse personnel, implement operational procedures, maintain stock accuracy, and ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and company policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise all daily warehouse activities.
• Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries.
• Allocate duties and monitor warehouse staff performance.
• Ensure accurate receiving, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of products.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through regular stock counts and reconciliation.
• Operate and improve warehouse management systems.
• Monitor key warehouse performance indicators.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work legislation.
• Conduct warehouse safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Ensure proper use of warehouse equipment and PPE.
• Coordinate vehicle loading schedules with transport operations.
• Monitor warehouse security procedures.
• Produce warehouse performance and inventory reports.
• Train, coach and develop warehouse employees.
• Conduct staff inductions and performance reviews.
• Support recruitment and workforce planning.
• Assist with operational budgeting and cost control.
• Maintain document retention and audit records.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and transport providers to ensure efficient service delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

• Minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in warehousing or logistics.
• Experience supervising warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of inventory control systems.
• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Good understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Ability to analyse warehouse performance data.
• Competent with Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

• Forklift certification.
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
• Experience within freight transport or heavy cargo operations.
• Knowledge of customs or logistics documentation.
