    We’re looking for a full-time Café Chef to join the small kitchen team at Store Street Espresso. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys making good, simple café food to a high standard and wants predominantly daytime, Monday-to-Friday hours. Our kitchen produces our sandwiches, fresh salads, cakes and other café food in-house. You’ll be working as part of a small team of three, usually alongside one other person, although there will occasionally be times when you need to work independently. Typical shifts are 6:30am–2:30pm, around 37–40 hours per week. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays shared and agreed between the kitchen team. Sundays are always off. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing sandwiches, salads and other café food Baking cakes Daily food preparation and service Placing supplier orders Managing stock levels and carrying out stock takes Monitoring food waste Maintaining HACCP and food-safety records Temperature and allergen records Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready for service Washing up and cleaning as part of the working day — we don't have a separate KP Contributing ideas for new dishes and improvements to the menu We’re interested in someone who has ideas and cares about food. There is room to suggest and trial new things, but anything we introduce needs to fit the quality and style of food we already serve and will be developed together with the wider team. You don't need to come from a fine-dining background, but you do need experience working in a professional kitchen and to be a confident, competent cook. More importantly, we're looking for someone who is: Reliable Organised Calm when things get busy Clean and conscientious Comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload A good team player Because we're such a small kitchen, teamwork really matters. Everyone needs to be willing to help each other and take responsibility for keeping the whole kitchen running well.
