Applications are invited for a 10 PA Specialist Grade doctor role in Community Paediatrics. This post is a replacement post and will be mainly based at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children which is on the St. Helier site, however in keeping with trust principles cross site working is encouraged and may be required. The post holder will help deliver Community Paediatric services for the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton. We are keen to support a suitable candidate to develop an area of interest which supplements the work of the department. While this post does require the candidate to provide a named role, we support candidates who may over time develop to take these on in due course. There are no on-call commitments unless desired. We currently offer our patients a wide range of services including diagnosis and management of all types of Developmental Problems e.g. Global Developmental Delay and Autism assessment in the under 5s, Motor Coordination Disorder, Neurodevelopmental disorders and Neuro-disability, Down syndrome and CLA clinics. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the team continue to deliver a high quality service for the children and will be involved in strategic planning of services with our local partners. The post includes b) Neurodevelopment clinic such as Assessment of social communication problems including ASD in the under 5s, Management of children with complex needs that impact on daily living activities and education. c) Support the department as required in Contribute to EHCNA process in keeping with department guidance d) Support the department as required with triaging of referrals e) Contribute to child safeguarding medical examinations St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey.Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Main Responsibilities and Duties Principle Duties of the Post The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients. • To, at all times, comply with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’ as amended or substituted from time to time., • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times., • To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Director., • To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director., • On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s corporate Induction (or arranged Consultant Induction)., • To participate in the Trust’s Statutory & Mandatory training programme., • To be responsible for the Clinical Management of in and out patients under your care. Management & Governance • To maintain personal and professional development. The post holder will be expected to register with their respective Royal College for the purpose of CME/CPD and to fulfil the requirements of that registration., • To provide advice, as required to the Executive and Trust Board, General Practitioners and other interested parties, on the provision of planning of clinical services locally, regionally and nationally in keeping with confidentiality agreements relating to Trust business., • To co-operate in the present framework agreement of management arrangements., • To fully participate in Clinical Governance arrangements across the Trust including participation in clinical audit, research (where appropriate), pursuing an agreed agenda with colleagues and the Trust Board and fully co-operating in implementing the results in order to achieve best practice., • To participate, on at least an annual basis in appraisal and job planning reviews., • To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate., • To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed., • To participate in the delivery of educational activities and training of juniors, and contribute to supervision ensuring a completed educational portfolio in line with GMC recommendations. 10 PA SGD Day Session Site Activity Type PA D1 AM QMHC Community Outpatient Clinic DCC 1 PM QMHC Admin DCC 1 D2 AM QMHC Community Outpatient clinic DCC 1 PM QMHC Admin DCC 1 D3 AM QMHC SPA SPA 1 PM QMHC SPA SPA 1 D4 AM QMHC Community Outpatient clinic (CLA) DCC 1 PM QMHC Admin DCC 1 D5 AM QMHC Safeguarding DCC 1 PM QMHC DCC 1 Total DCC 8, SPA 2 • Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC, • Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e. MRCP or equivalent, • MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research, • Community paediatric experience, • Has attended a recognised management training event or will have such training on completion of CCT, • Supervision of post graduate trainees, • Familiarity within issues of service organisation and development, • High standard of clinical skill in Paediatrics and neurodisability, • Safeguarding level 3 training, • Experience in the assessment and management of Developmental disorders, Social Communication Disorders including Autistic spectrum disorders., • Experience in dealing with children with complex medical needs, • To have clinical experience of the health needs of Children Looked After, • Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, • Ability to teach clinical skills, • Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems, • Ability to critically review research, • Experience of supervising junior doctors, • Experience of teaching Lay groups and other staff groups, • Publications in peer reviewed journals You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
