Core Responsibilities • Food Preparation: Expertly cutting fish, preparing sushi rice, and assembling various sushi types, including maki, nigiri, and sashimi., • Safety & Hygiene: Ensuring impeccable cleanliness of the workspace,, strict compliance with food safety regulations, and proper handling of raw ingredients., • Quality Control: Inspecting raw fish, produce, and other ingredients for quality before preparation., • Menu Development: Contributing to, or creating, new sushi, appetizers, soups, or sauces., • Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels and placing orders for fresh supplies., • Customer Service: Preparing custom orders and providing an exceptional dining experience, sometimes in a front-facing, interactive environment. Key Requirements & Skills • Experience: Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a Japanese restaurant (often 3–5 years for senior roles)., • Technical Skills: Advanced knife skills and deep knowledge of fish cutting techniques., • Efficiency: Ability to work quickly and precisely under pressure., • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long hours and potentially work early morning shifts., • Certification: Formal culinary training or certifications are often preferred. Typical Working Conditions • High-pressure, fast-paced kitchen, often in full view of customers., • Shifts may start early for fish sourcing and preparation., • Requires standing for long periods.
