We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess excellent organisational and communication skills. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and maintaining the highest standards of sushi dishes while ensuring a clean and efficient work environment. Duties • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and customer specifications, • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used efficiently, • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi preparation area in compliance with health and safety regulations, • Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional dining experiences, • Educate junior staff or trainees on sushi techniques and presentation standards, • Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste, • Uphold high standards of hygiene, food safety, and sanitation at all times, • Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi creations or improvements Requirements • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a busy restaurant environment, • Fluency in English, with strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and customers, • Organisational skills to manage multiple orders efficiently during peak hours, • Knowledge of IT systems related to inventory management or ordering is desirable, • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail, • Excellent organisational skills for maintaining cleanliness and stock control, • Basic plumbing knowledge is advantageous for handling kitchen equipment maintenance, • Teaching experience or the ability to train junior staff is a plus, • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and customer satisfaction
