4 Mistakes to Avoid on Your Resume

We’re sure you’ve put together an awesome resume! Just in case you need a little help, here are 4 mistakes to avoid on your resume:

  1.     Ditch Weird Colours or Fonts

Don’t get us wrong, we love bright colours – just not on our resumes! However, good old-fashioned black and white works wonders on resumes. Not everyone may have access to word processing programs with those funky fonts you used, so it will make it harder for employers to download and check your profile.

Also, when you use a standardized font and colour, it becomes much easier to open your CV on mobile platforms and loads up a lot faster.

  1.     Avoid Typing Errors/Spelling Mistakes

Dodge these babies like a bullet! Use those gorgeous eyes of yours to review and proofread your resume before you send it off to an employer. Look for any spelling errors, typos or grammatical mistakes that need to be fixed. Ask a mate to help you out and to take a look 😀

  1.     Don’t Inflate Your Resume

Okay, if you actually are multi-lingual and can speak Spanish and Urdu  like a native– go ahead and put that down on your resume. That’s amazing and your professional profile will catch your recruiter’s attention.

If you don’t speak those languages, no worries. Just focus on the ones you do! Same way, if you’re not a black belt in Tae-kwon do, don’t say that you are on your resume!

Bottom line: be your real self and don’t embellish your resume with skills that you don’t have. Hey, we love you just the way you are!

  1.     Exclude Irrelevant Skills

If the job that you’re applying for requires computer literacy, and that’s something you’re good at, highlight it clearly on your resume. We recommend to just stick to the skill set given in the job description and to not overshare other irrelevant skills.

You got this in the bag!
