Job DescriptionSalary: $21.50/hour About the organization Citizen Action is a statewide grassroots movement organization that fights for political, social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to address critical issues at the local, state and federal levels. About the position Citizen Action is looking to add a temporary canvasser to our New York City team. The canvass position focuses on going door-to-door in low income communities and communities of color in order to activate community members on the issues of affordability and universal child care. This position will report to the Canvass and Mobilization Director. What youll do and the impact you'll make • Go door to door multiple times a week for a total of 10 hours per week., • Invite people interested in the organization to join, record responses of community members and track data., • Identify community members for follow up by organizers based on their interest in our campaign, • Consistently meet quotas for door to door work and recruitment, • Any other duties as required by your supervisor Skills/Qualifications • Great communication and people skills, • Respect for diverse communities and varied worldviews and a commitment to promoting racial and gender justice, • Ability to use a script as a guide and have authentic conversations, • Ability to go door-to-door and speak with community members on the phone, • Patience and persistence, • Access to a tablet, laptop and phone with internet access, • Comfort using basic online software with training, • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, • Reliable transportation to travel to canvass turfs (valid drivers license required if using personal vehicle), • Ability and willingness to fully adopt use of VAN, Scale to Win Dialer and Text, EveryAction, New/Mode, Google Drive, Slack, Asana, Action Network, and any other tools used by the organizations., • Availability on evenings and weekends Location This position will be based in Staten Island, NY, reporting to that chapters office location. Job Description The Trainer of Trainer’s (TOT) overall goal is to help workers use evidence-based models and best practices to create positive outcomes for the families in Good Shepherd’s care. Toward this goal, the TOT will support staff in mastering the Child Success NYC model along with other evidence-based models and effectively integrating them into day-to-day casework, ensuring model fidelity and sustainability. The TOT will also collaborate with program leadership to strengthen staff capacity around new policies and best practices. Reports to: Program Director of Model Fidelity and Special Services Location: 7 West Burnside Ave., Bronx, NY 10453 Hours: 35 Hours; Non -Exempt (Position requires staff to be onsite. Hybrid schedules are based on program needs) Salary: $50-55K based on relevant experience and education Major Duties: • Participate in TOT training workshops and TOT consultation with model developers, • Facilitate parent and foster parent groups and maintain Approved Facilitator status, • Train Case Planners and Support Staff to conduct high-quality groups with fidelity to the model, • Guide staff in helping group participants apply skills in their daily lives, particularly working toward reunification and reducing placement disruptions, • Observe all assigned group sessions, rate fidelity, and provide written and verbal feedback to facilitators using a strength-based approach, • Track and monitor children entering and exiting care between the ages of 0-48 months to assess for Attachment by behavioral Catch Up (ABC)., • Meet with participants to share information and recruit for ABC, PTC, and KEEP models., • Provide and document consultation for facilitators to support model fidelity., • Model and teach best practices related to documentation of groups in Connections and other data systems as needed, • Monitor and work to improve outcomes related to the model, • Monitor and assist staff in utilizing tools and tracking data related to the model, • Identify documentation issues; complete and/or facilitate data cleanup as needed, • Coordinate outreach efforts across casework staff, Homefinding, Intake and Support Services, ensuring a coherent and consistent approach to participant recruitment and retention, • Coordinate the provision of groups to meet participants’ needs (timing, language, etc.), • Communicate and collaborate with consultants, other agencies, and ACS as needed, • Model and teach effective integration of models within the overall framework of Youth and Family Development, • Assist in creation and facilitation of parent and/or foster parent advisory groups to explore opportunities for continuous program improvement, • Other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree preferred, HS/GED required, • Applicants must be Approved Facilitators as certified by the model developers, • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, • Exemplary facilitation skills, • Strong training and coaching skills are a must, • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Exemplary clinical wisdom, • Strong desire and ability to work effectively with GSS foster care program populations, • Engaging presentation style, • Ability to maintain detailed and consistent documentation, • Commitment to GSS mission and the use of evidence-based models to further that mission, • Commitment to continuous professional development for self and others
