Job Description The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role within the culinary team, supporting the Chef de Cuisine in all aspects of kitchen operations. This position requires hands-on omakase experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining impeccable quality, consistency, and cultural authenticity. The Sous Chef will help foster a positive, disciplined kitchen culture while ensuring flawless execution of menus, events, and daily service. Key Responsibilities • Support the Chef de Cuisine and fellow Sous Chefs in all kitchen operations, • Act as culinary leader in the Chef de Cuisine’s absence, including leading omakase service or expediting, • Oversee recipe development, costing, product specifications, and sourcing, • Execute menu rollouts and maintain ongoing quality assurance systems, • Plan and execute private events from a culinary perspective, • Establish and uphold kitchen policies, procedures, and standards, • Train, mentor, and guide culinary team members, • Ensure proper food handling, storage, cooling, and sanitation practices, • Conduct daily mise en place checks and random sanitation/temperature audits, • Manage prep schedules based on reservation volume, • Maintain constant communication with engineering and management regarding kitchen needs, • Ensure full compliance with all health department regulations, • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment, • Perform additional duties as assigned by management Required Experience & Qualifications • Culinary degree or apprenticeship preferred, • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a luxury restaurant or hotel setting, • Strong experience with Japanese cuisine and omakase-style service (required), • Ability to train, coach, and motivate culinary staff, • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, • Food Safety Certification required, • Cultural sensitivity and awareness are essential, • Multilingual skills are a plus, • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs Benefits & Perks • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, • Paid Time Off, • 401(k) Program, • Commuter Benefits, • Dining DiscountsCompany DescriptionRestaurantZone is one of the fastest-growing national recruiting agencies in the hospitality/restaurant space.
