Fancy Buffet Haitian Restaurant Position Summary Fancy Buffet is seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Kitchen Supervisor / Chef to lead our kitchen operations and ensure every customer receives high-quality, authentic Haitian cuisine. This position is responsible for supervising the kitchen team, maintaining food quality and consistency, managing inventory, preparing food, fulfilling customer orders efficiently, and ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with all health and safety regulations. When the Owner is not on-site, the Kitchen Supervisor is expected to oversee all kitchen operations, make operational decisions, direct staff, and ensure the kitchen runs smoothly. Key Responsibilities Kitchen Leadership • Supervise and manage all kitchen staff during assigned shifts., • Delegate tasks and ensure employees remain productive throughout the day., • Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency., • Train and coach kitchen employees on recipes, portioning, and proper procedures., • Address operational issues and make decisions in the absence of the owner. Food Preparation & Order Fulfillment • Prepare ingredients and menu items according to Fancy Buffet recipes and standards., • Ensure all prep work is completed before service begins., • Coordinate the kitchen to fulfill customer orders quickly and accurately., • Monitor ticket times to maintain efficient service., • Verify portion sizes and presentation before food leaves the kitchen. Inventory Management • Monitor inventory levels of meats, vegetables, dry goods, spices, and kitchen supplies., • Conduct regular inventory counts., • Report low-stock items and assist with ordering., • Properly rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods., • Minimize food waste and control food costs through proper storage and portioning. Cleanliness & Food Safety • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times., • Ensure compliance with all local health department regulations and food safety standards., • Enforce proper food handling, storage temperatures, and sanitation procedures., • Ensure all equipment, prep areas, refrigerators, freezers, and workstations are cleaned daily., • Complete opening and closing cleaning checklists. Quality Control • Ensure every dish meets Fancy Buffet's quality standards., • Taste and inspect food throughout service., • Maintain consistency in recipes and seasoning., • Monitor freshness of prepared foods and discard any items that do not meet quality standards. Team Accountability • Hold kitchen staff accountable for performance and cleanliness., • Address attendance, punctuality, and workplace professionalism., • Communicate operational issues directly to ownership., • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Qualifications • Previous experience as a Chef, Lead Cook, Kitchen Supervisor, or Kitchen Manager., • Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and inventory management., • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced kitchen., • Strong organizational and communication skills., • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail., • Dependable, punctual, and professional., • Experience preparing Haitian cuisine is strongly preferred. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for extended periods., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds., • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed., • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
