A roll line cook at Veselka GCT is responsible for preparing and assembling sandwiches, wraps, and plated meals quickly and accurately. They work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring ingredients are stocked, orders are fulfilled efficiently, and food safety standards are maintained.

You will be responsible for planning our menu, ensuring that each dish is nutritious and cost-effective, and collaborating with a team of kitchen staff to deliver food that meets the highest quality standards. Chef Responsibilities: Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner. Planning the menu, keeping in mind budget, and availability of seasonal ingredients. Overseeing all kitchen operations. Coordinating kitchen staff, and assisting them as required. Training staff to prepare and cook all the menu items. Taking stock of ingredients and equipment, and placing orders to replenish stock. Enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen. Creating new recipes to keep the menu fresh. Keeping up to date with industry trends. Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary. Chef Requirements: Culinary school degree/diploma. Past experience as a working chef. Advanced knowledge of the culinary arts. Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control. Portfolio of creative, unique dishes. Expert multitasking ability. Great leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to run stocktaking and place orders for resupply. Exemplary work ethic in a high-pressure environment. Passion and pride for delighting people with food.

Must be familiar with deli sandwiches 1 am to 8 am 6 or 7 days

Cook/Chef will be responsible for packing, cooking, and assisting with a variety of programs and special events. This includes supporting cooking classes, wellness events, food drives, and community gatherings by producing fresh, high-quality food in a mobile and dynamic environment. Qualifications: - Proven experience as a cook or chef in catering, restaurant, or large-scale food preparation. - Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (NYC Food Handler’s Certificate preferred) - Ability to work independently and efficiently in mobile/temporary kitchen setups. - Comfortable working in diverse community settings. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to lift and transport food and equipment (up to 50 lbs). - Flexibility to work varied schedules, including some evenings and weekends. - Reliable transportation to different program locations. Fast-paced environment requires someone who can work efficiently and have the ability to be on your feet for extended periods. Duties include washing and dicing & slicing fruits, veggies, and meats. Ensure workstation, storage area, and store in general are clean/sanitized and organized. Maintain food establishment safety guidelines. Full time and part time available. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. Possession of a NYC food handler certificate or completed course a plus.

Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Use a slicing machine and related equipment. Replenish Deli product. Prepare Deli product for sale. Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection. Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods. Keep manager or other designated Associates informed of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems. Keep salad bowls and other displays stocked and properly turned and faced at all times in accordance with department standards. Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately. Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately. Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment. Unload trucks and transport merchandise to Appy/Deli Department that weights 25 lbs., and that occasionally weights up to 50 lbs. Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise that weights 25 lbs., and that occasionally weights 50 lbs. Operate equipment with all safeguards in place and in good operating condition. Observe safe methods of performing all duties. Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with Department of Sanitation and QA standards.
