📊 Chief Financial Officer | Construction & Development (NYC) \n 📍 New York City · On-Site · Full-Time · 💰 $185,000 to $250,000 + Performance Bonus + Benefits \n \n Own the finance function behind thousands of homes. \n \n A 45-year-old, family-founded NYC general contractor and developer, specializing in affordable, supportive, and mixed-income housing, is hiring a Chief Financial Officer to lead its finance function and serve as a true strategic partner to ownership. (The company name is confidential at this stage of the search.) \n \n This is a finance leadership seat with real scale behind it: more than $3B in completed construction, over 10,000 apartments delivered, and a secured pipeline north of $1B. You’ll own everything from controls and close to surety, banking, and systems, while helping shape the next phase of a growing, well-capitalized business. \n \n ✨ Why this role \n\n • 🏗️ Scale and stability: 45+ years, family-founded, $3B+ built, and a $1B+ secured pipeline, so the backlog is real and the growth is funded\n, • 🤝 A genuine seat at the table: business partner to ownership with direct influence on strategy, not finance stuck in a silo\n, • 🧩 Complex, rewarding finance: a combined builder-and-developer model spanning public and private capital, agency partners, and multiple entities\n, • 🔧 A build-and-improve mandate: modernize the financial systems, controls, and processes that will carry the firm through its next stage of growth\n, • 🏙️ Mission that matters: the homes you help fund strengthen real New York neighborhoods\n, • 💰 Strong comp: $185K to $250K base plus performance bonus and annual raises\n\n \n 🔨 What you’ll do \n\n • Lead the finance department, coordinating across development, operations, risk management, and executive leadership\n, • Plan, manage, and coordinate all financial functions across the organization\n, • Lead negotiations and manage relationships with sureties and banks\n, • Deliver timely, accurate analysis of budgets, results, and forecasts\n, • Oversee all transactional accounting: AR, AP, payroll, and job costing\n, • Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting\n, • Lead Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) reporting and audits with the Risk Manager\n, • Evaluate and improve financial policies, controls, and processes for scalable growth\n, • Evolve the firm’s financial systems alongside the CEO and executive team\n, • Hire, train, mentor, and manage finance and accounting staff in partnership with HR\n, • Oversee credit and collections with Operations and Accounting\n, • Partner with Project Management leadership on cost reports, WIP analysis, and forecasting\n, • Own project setup, tracking, and ongoing financial analysis\n, • Ensure timely, accurate completion of all tax filings\n, • Act as a strategic advisor to ownership and functional leadership\n, • Lead the annual budget process and short- and long-term forecasting\n, • Oversee regulatory reporting, accounting policy, and all audits (financial, insurance, corporate, CCIP, 401K, sales tax)\n\n \n 🎓 What you bring \n\n • 15+ years of construction accounting/finance experience\n, • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA, MS, or CPA desirable\n, • Public accounting background a plus; CPA desirable\n, • A strong track record building construction accounting processes and internal controls\n, • Deep command of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction-specific finance\n, • Experience hiring, training, developing, and leading accounting teams\n, • Proficiency across construction ERP systems; Sage 300 preferred\n, • Outstanding communication and team-building skills\n, • Sharp analytical judgment paired with a strong operational focus\n\n \n 🎁 Compensation & benefits \n 💰 $185,000 to $250,000 · 📈 Annual performance-based bonus and raises · 💼 401(k) with employer match (after 12 months) · 🩺 Medical (PPO, EPO, HSA) and dental \n \n 👉 Interested?
