We are also open to basing the position at our office in Philadelphia. While this position will be based out of a Zurich office, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week. As Construction Casualty Underwriter you will have a chance to use your marketing and analytical skills along with your knowledge of buildings to analyze and underwrite new and renewal Casualty business both in the US and internationally. This is a market facing position and we are seeking someone with a strong sales execution mindset and knowledge of commercial construction Casualty policies. There will be 15%-20% travel for this position. Key Accountabilities of this role: • Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations., • Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate., • Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and works with customers and distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions., • Support the organization's sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers., • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities., • Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities., • Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity., • Make broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Basic Qualifications: • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment, • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment, • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree, • Commercial Construction Casualty underwriting experience and broker relationships in the Mid Atlantic region, • Ability to effectively assess risk, • Strong negotiation skills, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines, • Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility, • PC and related software skills, • CPCU and ARM a plus Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. The proposed Salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $95,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.   Zurich is seeking an AVP, Underwriting Manager, Construction Casualty or VP, Senior Manager, Construction Casualty for the Mid-Atlantic Region to join our Global Specialties Construction team in our Philadelphia office. This is a hybrid role that will require 3 days per week in a Zurich office. This role will be filled at either the AVP, Construction Casualty Underwriting Manager or VP, Construction Casualty Manager .The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position. This position will lead the Mid-Atlantic Construction Casualty team and work closely with key brokers and clients to deliver comprehensive first-party risk transfer solutions. This leadership position will be responsible for the delivery of key business objectives for the Mid-Atlantic Construction Casualty team, along with developing, mentoring, and guiding a team of Underwriters and Account Service Associates. You will collaborate closely with Zurich’s broad team of Construction experts and resources, across multiple disciplines and stakeholders. There will be approximately 25% travel for this position. In this role you will be responsible for: • Working under minimal direction, underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels of highly complex assignments., • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry., • Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals., • Work at the highest authority limits on assignments utilizing the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and works with customers and distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions., • Support the organization's sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers, and customers. • Contribute to the development of propositions. Provide technical guidance, assistance, and training to lower-level underwriters. • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Basic Qualifications, AVP Level: • 2 or more years of management experience OR Basic Qualifications, VP Level: • Experience in a specialized line of business or segment, • 2 or more years of people management experience Preferred Qualifications: • CPCU or CRIS, • Advanced knowledge of Construction Casualty product lines, the commercial insurance and Construction/Engineering industry, • Strong Broker relationships in Mid-Atlantic region, • Excellent communication skills, • Excellent skills in relationship building, • Strong presentation skills, • Results oriented Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience.
