Job DescriptionShape the future of high‑tech metals in Franklin, USA At Plansee’s Franklin site, you’ll turn semi-finished tungsten and molybdenum into precision components used in cutting-edge applications. You’ll join a close-knit local team backed by the global strength of the Plansee Group. A day in this role You arrive to a clean, well-equipped shop floor and review the day’s work orders. Blueprints and engineering plans are on your bench; you interpret GD&T, confirm reference planes and datums, and plan your setups. On an Okuma Multus B300/B400 or a standard Okuma CNC lathe, you stage tooling, verify offsets, and run complex, non-routine parts. As first articles run, you make thoughtful G/M-code edits on the floor, troubleshoot, and document best practices for repeatability. Some jobs push the limits: compound angles, multi-start and other non-standard screw threads, helical features, worm threads, gears, and tight, interrelated dimensions. You adapt conventional tooling creatively, perform in-place machining on fixtures, and refine first-run programs to hit spec the first time. Collaboration comes naturally—you communicate status, share ideas, and support multiple machines to keep work flowing. What you’ll do • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, specifications, and GD determine locations, reference planes, and machining parameters., • Set up and operate Okuma Multus B300/B400 mill‑turns and standard Okuma CNC lathes to produce complex parts; perform shop-floor program edits., • Machine challenging geometries: unusual/compound angles, compound indexing, multi‑lead and other non‑standard threads, helical features, worm threads, gears, and tightly related surfaces., • Execute CNC operations involving multiple setups, in-place machining of fixtures, debugging first‑run programs, and recommending program changes. What you bring, • Level 3–4 CNC Machinist experience., • Hands-on expertise with Okuma Multus B300/B400 mill‑turns and standard Okuma CNC lathes., • Proficiency setting up and running mill‑turns and conventional lathes; ability to support multiple machines., • Blueprint and GD&T fluency; ability to read and understand G and M codes and make simple edits., • Measurement mastery from hand tools to CMMs and optical comparators., • Detail orientation, clear communication, and strong teamwork.
