Role Description This is an intern role for a Logistics and Inventory. The intern will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing inventory levels, assisting with supply chain management, coordinating export logistics, and providing excellent customer service. They will also be required to work with various teams to ensure smooth communication and operations related to inventory and logistics. The unpaid 8-week internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular diagnostics, specifically focusing on urinary tract infection (UTI) testing. Interns will be trained through a structured program that includes orientation, shadowing experienced technologists, and hands-on practice with laboratory techniques. Interns may have the opportunity to apply for a NYS Restricted License in Molecular Diagnostics. The Molecular Diagnostics Intern responsibilities include: · Participate in an orientation program that includes laboratory tours, safety protocols, and administrative tasks. · Shadow laboratory technologists to understand the workflow of molecular testing and UTI processing. · Training in accessioning samples. · Learn and perform various laboratory techniques, including pipetting, sample processing, and data analysis. · Engage in hands-on practice with contrived samples to develop skills in UTI sample plating, extraction, and PCR. · Review and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to UTI testing and viral processing. · Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and protocols. · Undergo assessments to track progress. · Deliver a final presentation. Summary The Clinical Toxicology Internship offers hands-on experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory specializing in LC-MS/MS analysis of urine and oral fluid specimens. This 12-week program is designed for graduates pursuing careers in clinical laboratory science, toxicology, or related health sciences. Interns will be immersed in sample processing, quality control, batch review, and data interpretation under the supervision of experienced laboratory professionals. Interns may have the opportunity to apply for a NYS Restricted License in Toxicology. Responsibilities Participate in onboarding and compliance training (e.g., laboratory safety, HIPAA, OSHA). Learn and apply laboratory best practices, including pipetting, sample accessioning, and documentation. Shadow technologists across urine toxicology and oral fluid testing workflows. Assist with batch processing using Ascent software, including calibration, QC review, and result entry.
