Services for the UnderServed (S:US) is hiring **Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)** to support people with intellectual/developmental disabilities in living their best life in a safe environment. S:US offers a variety of shift and schedule options across our programs, 1199 union benefits, and a 10-percent internal promotion rate organization-wide. Schedule availability varies by program and position, and employees are hired into a specific schedule that is confirmed during the hiring process.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in that client’s service plans (CFA, Individual Service plan, Habilitation plan)
  • Assist each client, as needed, in skill development in areas such as activities of daily living, domestic living, recreation and socialization
  • With appropriate training and supervision, administer medication to clients as assigned and in compliance with management, medical and nursing policies and procedures
  • Ensure assigned clients’ nutritional needs are met according to prescribed diet, and assist with feeding as necessary
  • Report immediately any observed/known deficiencies or own inability in providing habilitation services to clients, as well as all types of abuse and other facility problems, including physical plant/safety issues to management

  • Preferred One year’s experience providing direct services to developmentally disabled

Qualifications Proven experience working as a caregiver in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities. Familiarity with patient observation techniques, patient monitoring tools, and developing or following detailed care plans. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques; experience with Hoyer lifts is preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications related to healthcare or caregiving are advantageous. Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish; ability to effectively engage with diverse populations.
