Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full time, Delivery Driver based out of the Bronx in New York. This role is temporary (90 days) to start but with the opportunity to transition to Full Time Regular status based on business needs and employee performance. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Driver to work closely with the growing team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of growth. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Pick up and deliver product at the start of each shift based on store needs/order sheets, • Organize delivery vehicle for maximum delivery optimization, • Deliver product to New York Retail stores and properly organize product in each location, • Maintain accurate order sheets, • Maintain a well-organized and tightly-run delivery schedule, • Make wholesale runs across the Tri-state area, • Drive safely while following all local motor-vehicle laws JOB REQUIREMENTS • Have excellent driving skills and experience driving large/box trucks (CDL a plus!), • Have a demonstrated ability to solve problems and work independently, • Be reliable, punctual, and trustworthy, • Have a great attitude and help maintain positive relationships with our vendors and their representatives, • Possess basic math skills so that you can efficiently resolve invoice discrepancies, • Be able to lift and carry 50+ pounds, • Has knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, • Valid license required Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is committed to pay transparency and equity among all employees and provides employees an environment where pay transparency and dialogue on compensation are allowed. Remove debris from the cabin and sweep and mop the truck bed., • Support with driving the vans for maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles of the van to ensure safety and all state/federal regulations., • Driving safely within rules and regulations to avoid traffic violations., • Record any incident reports regarding the van. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift and transport 50-75 lbs., • Ability to load and unload food containers and delivery equipment., • Ability to drive and operate delivery vehicles for extended periods., • Work requires the following motions: bending, lifting, twisting, squatting, reaching, and hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling., • Exposure to the outside cold and heat while delivering.
