Welcome to Allied Digestive Health! We are seeking a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN) to join our family at Northshore Gastroenterology Associates! Summary Under the direction of the Practice Administrator and under the supervision of a licensed Physician, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides clinical and administrative support in an Office-Based Surgery (OBS) and ambulatory office setting. The LPN assists Physicians with patient care delivery before, during, and after office visits and OBS procedures within New York State scope of practice, including escorting patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs and histories, medication reconciliation, EMR documentation, patient education as directed, and other clinical and clerical duties. The LPN may work across multiple locations and must demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, attention to regulatory requirements, and a strong understanding of policies, procedures, and accrediting standards applicable to New York OBS settings, administration of medications and injections only per Physician order and within regulatory guidelines. Essential Responsibilities • Under the direction of the Practice Administrator and under the supervision of a Physician, provides nursing care and patient instructions as ordered by a Physician and permitted under NYS LPN scope of practice., • Greets patients professionally, verifies patient identity, escorts patients to exam or procedure rooms, and conducts patient interviews as appropriate., • Obtains, measures, and records patient vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation when indicated., • Performs medication reconciliation and documents allergies, current medications, and relevant patient history., • Accurately documents all clinical and administrative information in the patient's medical record in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory requirements., • Prepares, organizes, and PIFs patient charts for office visits and OBS procedures., • Processes tasks, messages, and clinical workflows in the EMR (gMed or equivalent)., • Verifies patient demographic and insurance information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards., • May obtain prior authorizations and referrals as required for procedures, labs, imaging, or medications., • Ensures all required reports, laboratory results, consult notes, and diagnostics are available in the medical record prior to patient visits or procedures., • Prepares exam and procedure rooms, ensuring appropriate stocking of supplies and adherence to infection prevention and control standards., • Supports OBS workflows by assisting with pre-procedure and post-procedure activities as permitted for LPNs, including patient monitoring and documentation under physician direction., • Perform follows up on orders, recalls, tasks, and communicates with pharmacies and vendors as directed., • May access ancillary portals to obtain patient reports or records., • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment in compliance with OSHA, infection control, and safety standards., • Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including NYSDOH, OSHA, HIPAA, and applicable accrediting body standards (e.g., AAAASF / QUAD A, Joint Commission)., • Demonstrates consistent professionalism, courtesy, and respectful communication with patients, families, providers, vendors, and colleagues., • Attends all required staff meetings, education, competency assessments, and regulatory training., • Identifies and resolves routine issues independently and escalates concerns appropriately., • May float to other local offices or OBS locations as directed., • May work varied schedules or extended hours based on operational needs., • Cross-trains with other clinical and administrative roles and provides coverage as needed., • Performs additional duties as assigned consistent with licensure and training. Essential Skills • Active New York State LPN license in good standing., • Trained to administer medications and injections per Physician order and regulatory requirements., • Strong ability to multitask with attention to accuracy, patient safety, and regulatory compliance., • Demonstrates effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills., • Exhibits excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills., • Able to remain professional, calm, and courteous in a fast-paced clinical environment., • Proficient in EMR systems or able to learn new systems efficiently., • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and patient safety standards or ability to be trained., • Ability to exercise discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality in all patient and staff interactions., • Reliable transportation to support work at multiple locations if required., • Ability to learn and perform clinical support tasks appropriate to ambulatory and OBS settings under physician supervision. Education and Experience Required High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program. Current New York State LPN license required.
